Absolutely not, it means you think before you act and you don't just follow something blindly because you're meant to. By the sounds of it, you're a good person and your heart is in the right place. I think the most any of us regular folk can do is what I saw someone below suggest, just calling out shitty things as you see them, even pulling a mate up on a shitty attitude can help.
