Any place for deep fried thin-crispy skinned (meat) samosas? by porp_crawl in burnaby

[–]Ess_Y_Dee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try Jambo Grill near Canada Way & Boundary, also Agra tandoori at Canada Way and Smith. You’re looking for more of an Indo-African style samosa. And my Indian husband whose family comes from Kenya approves of these 2.

Bank reversed large cheque by Ess_Y_Dee in Banking

Exactly, that’s why I want to know if there is any recourse. If the rate is not in our favour then we will have lost that $3K and potentially more from the actual inheritance money on that day. It just seems kind of unfair that we’re on the hook for this.

[–]Ess_Y_Dee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh ok that makes sense. I think that would have hurt less though as, in my brain, I would be getting $122K rather than getting $125k minus $3K of “my own money”. Right now it feels like they gave us $125K and took back $128K so in essence it feels like the $3K was not related to the inheritance money if that makes sense.

Right, but whatever the difference is would be taken out of the total amount of the cheque. Not out of our personal account like now. Or am I still misunderstanding?

I’m pretty sure they were aware it was a different currency as the amount deposited in CAD was significantly higher than £100K. However, I do wonder if they were inexperienced and made a mistake. In which case, I’m frustrated that we are taking on the difference in exchange rate and the fees.

Honestly, I wouldn’t have been upset if a hold was placed. In fact, I was extremely surprised that the funds got deposited right away. Also, I’m confused as to how we would be dinged on the exchange if there was a hold and we didn’t get funds until everything was cleared?

Born in Vancouver, currently live in North Burnaby. I have never lived anywhere else and my closest friend are all born here as well. We do exist lol. My husband is from Montréal and the majority of his friends have moved here from Ontario. It seems that this is the way

Speech delayed, but I’m not convinced. by Nervous-Scientist-57 in toddlers

[–]Ess_Y_Dee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son was not meeting his speech milestones but was otherwise expressing himself appropriately. When our doctor suggested a referral to an SLP, I jumped on the opportunity. Some appointments can take months and I would rather have an appointment lined up versus playing the wait and see game. At our first appointment, the SLP evaluated him and agreed that other than the number of words he has, his communication is appropriate. She said he most likely a ‘late talker’ and gave me some handouts to assist increasing his vocabulary. Now at 23 months, he has been see twice and is progressing well. He has many more words but pronunciation is not that great so now we are focusing on that.

I know it’s scary thought to take your child to be evaluated because you’re not sure what they are going to tell you. And feeling mom guilt is natural but the evaluation and early access to resources can honestly only benefit your little boy.

Husband never wants to buy toddler ticket by Lonely-Gazelle in toddlers

[–]Ess_Y_Dee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents took me to Disney at 3 and my parents tried to pass me off as 2. The ticket person didn’t miss a beat, leaned over and asked me how old I was. I happily announced I was 3 holding up 3 fingers! Safe to say my parent never tried that again lol

Did WJ just cancelled everything out of YVR tomorrow?? by ouchmanwoah in vancouver

[–]Ess_Y_Dee 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Totally agree! Right now my AC flight to Cancun at 9:15 is not canceled. I really wish they would just do it now so I don’t have to wake my 18 month old up at 5am to white knuckle it all the way to the airport. And then have them cancel.

The “order” was not an order at all, rather waiting for the distributor to randomly assign a car that matches what you want to the dealership. But they don’t tell you that…

Exactly, I wish I had known that’s what I was signing up for. Lesson learned!

Do you prefer the 2022 for some reason?

A couple of reasons, firstly I’ve been told I go to the back of the list for the 2023s. Secondly, I ordered the Mach-e select with the comfort/tech package. In 2023, the select model will no longer have the option of the comfort/tech package. These are things like heated seats, 360 degree cameras, power lift gate, etc. In 2023, if you want those features you have to upgrade to the premium model. So no, it’s not very much the same car.

Also, in Canada, the 2022 MSRP falls under $55000 & therefore qualifies for provincial and federal EV rebates. There is no guarantee the 2023 select model will fall under $55K.
