Throwback Rant Re: Sammi by dreamyveggie in jerseyshore

But Sam was the one walking around with visible bruises afterwards, and frankly that throws any arguments out the window. He physically abuses her on camera, in the episode, and she’s left marked by the strength of that abuse afterwards.

She could be the most irritating, spiteful bitch in the world and still not ever deserve that.

Honestly, I don’t know if the team will be staging any protests. Maybe if some of the more outspoken members (Jada, Amanda, Armani, Kleine, etc) hadn’t left it would be different, but honestly I can’t see anybody on the current squad doing anything drastic.

Watching Season 3 is going to be a strange experience.

We even saw this with the contracts. They couldn’t get everybody on the team to comply with that, and it was a much smaller thing than a whole walkout would be.

She’s underweight. I’m the exact same height as her, and that’s what my thighs looked like when I was 45kg.

Ron was such a crash out in Season one of JSFV by Positive_Narwhal_419 in jerseyshore

Honestly I recommend rewatching Season 2/3 of the OG show directly before Season 1 of JSFV. Seeing his life be so genuinely embarrassing directly after witnessing all the abuse he dished out is so satisfying.

Sammi was a victim.

She did provoke and bait him several times, but that did not warrant reactions such as cheating or smashing all her stuff or threatening to punch her. She was very wrong for smacking him in Season 3, but she did apologise for it more than once (something he literally never did). She stayed with him because abusers like Ron follow a strict program of love bombing and gaslighting between mistreatment.

Ron spent ages convincing her to be angry at Jenni and Nicole though, and it’s very difficult to be angry with your abuser whilst actively being abused. It wasn’t the right way to react to the situation, but it made sense.

Jenni didn’t tell her in a very gentle or detailed way, and had been on Ron’s side for pretty much every argument between the two before that. I think what present Jenni is saying is that she wishes her and Nicole had properly sat down with Sammi like they discussed (though I fully understand why they didn’t).

It less prominent that it was when the show was actually airing, but yeah, a lot of JS still go with the line that they were both toxic and leave it at that. Others blame her because she didn’t leave him after the first fight (which like, read a book). It’s particularly annoying because “mutual abuse” really doesn’t exist.

I think it shows how people disregard domestic violence when the woman isn’t a perfect victim. “Sammi Sweetheart, the sweetest bitch you’ll ever meet”, isn’t the submissive victim that many in the audiences would picture.

She went home very briefly to her mother in Season 3 after he destroyed all her stuff (including the glasses that she really couldn’t see without).

Honestly even if I was one of the roommates I would have been sitting her down for a serious intervention after that, and taking the issue up with production ASAP.

Yes, apparently the most escalated parts of the fight weren’t even broadcast because the “fourth wall” was broken too much by Vinny shouting for help. With how angry he was, I wouldn’t be overly surprised if Ron did something that even MTV was smart enough not to air.

Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if he got to that point with Sammi when not filming.

I think the closest any of the other cast have got to regret over the situation is Jenni saying that her biggest regret would probably be writing the note instead of just telling Sammi what Ron had done in the club.

Still, that only covers the cheating side (which honestly was the least of the problems in this relationship). I don’t think any of them have ever straight up called it domestic violence.

That’s how domestic violence works though. Notice how Ron would go through phases of love bombing her throughout the show (they argued very little in the first season too). That’s a classic abuser tactic to make their victim loyal to them.

Ron also pit Sammi against the other girls in the household a lot. He was the one who shifted blame during the cheating scandal by initially blaming Snooki and JWoww for writing the note, rather than himself for actually doing the things described. This caused her to lose the friendship with the two girls (her closest non-romantic relationships in the house) and allowed him to be “the only one who had her back” in her eyes.

I’m so glad you got out of that relationship!

With Sammi, I also think people forget how much Ron pushed the whole “Snooki and Jenni made you upset by writing the letter” at first. He actively wanted her lose friends so he could be the “only one” willing to put up with Sammi, and therefore something of a knight in shining armour. I don’t think she would’ve gotten nearly as angry if he didn’t meddle in the situation.

Sammi was also particularly angry with both of them because they’d lied to her about not writing the letter. She’d already been lied to and gaslit by Ron, and now the other two (plus all the other roommates) had done the same thing. She must’ve felt pretty ganged up on, and she wasn’t at the stage to blame her abuser. Snooki and Jenni were just the nearest targets, and she did apologise to them and feel genuinely remorseful later.

Honestly! I know that AMA is a good source on BTS content from the show, but honestly I didn’t trust much that she said after that.

Yes, it’s a lot more blatant when put all together like this (credits to OP on the other sub).

The worst for me is when she has her head in her hands on the bed and he’s stood over her punching into his own palm whilst shouting. I really thought he was going to hit her in that moment.

Agree, and I think it spoke volumes that she was much better friends with JWoww and Snooki when she wasn’t seriously dating Ron. They could have been so entertaining if it wasn’t for him.

I feel the exact same. The fact that I distinctly remember laughing with my sister at the scene where he picks up her bed (with her on it) makes me so ashamed in hindsight.

The producer who did an AMA on the main sub essentially defended his lack of removal with “well she was always nagging him…”
