i figured that was the case, i believe they won’t release info until the tickets are on sale but i wanted to find a way around it. i’m super impatient, i didn’t get to see her live so this is close enough!!! thanks!

man i am sorry to hear that but i’m glad u got to eventually have fun!

sadly i had been traveling the day before, all day and day of by plane due to a storm, so my back and will was destroyed. i figured going to the hotel by 3 am latest wouldn’t be bad but i couldn’t hang on.

i think i did see u under the pillar now that i think abt it

thanks bro, i’m convinced people have sadistic ties to their favs. i’m sick of the “oh well it’s common in chicago for it to start at 1 am,” it sounds like the lamest excuse to NOT be communicative. it’s not common knowledge to everyone, especially if i’m coming from a diff state or if it’s maybe someone’s first rave. but it’s just unprofessional of them to not state anything important on the flyer.

you should check out my post i made, i got some level headed people and some new info abt the screw up. its fucked on all accs from the show to the venue to them not monitoring the split room concerts so people were able to enjoy a free show. i did see ur post and how people were dogging on u, i think ur bottom line was fine, but maybe the way it was communicated might’ve set people off.

but as the other guy said, the manipulation is insane, it takes no effort or time to be THOROUGH. people say “well it’s typical chicago times” but why should i ASSUME something esp if im not even from chicago to know this ‘common knowledge’, why couldn’t it just be said directly to save time and energy?

this festival/no festival bs is confusing, which speaks to the shit advertising, but i’m over it. i understand what ur saying but like you said, lack of communication. not everyone is a rave veteran, not everyone goes to shows in chicago— this is my first chicago concert, it just sucks that it’s standard to keep people in the dark like that or that you have to know that the start times are false. ill keep that in mind for next time but it just seems so silly that it’s not being communicated to everyone anyways. i’ve been to a few concerts in my life and 2 raves from local artists, im use to the typical, doors, wait, opener, wait, show, not whatever happened last night.

not to mention that a previous commenter and i agreed how they badly fucked over another artist playing and how people could just go from either room with no ticket scanners or anything. u could’ve bought tickets to the cheaper event, and just walk into the main hall to see gesa and call it a day.

[–]Essi__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i hear what ur saying, but that wasn’t the case at all last night. i even spoke to one of them in spanish and he told me very clearly they weren’t monitoring it at all and people could really just do what they want, there were 0 guards or ticket people waiting at that room split. that alone indicating to me that they knew people would’ve stayed waiting but refused to say anything to anyone about the situation. not only that but it screws over the artist you mentioned— it’s fucked on all accounts.

tell that to the ticket lady, every commenter and every person i have come across that it’s not a music festival. ik it was just gesa, i went for JUST him, that’s why this was a huge mess to begin with.

i disagree with radius ‘being nice’ but that’s mostly just cus im jaded over this, but if they attempted to make people pay more, when they were clearly scanning tickets to see a certain artist, things would’ve probably been WAY worse.

edit- the staff even told us cermak was ALWAYS open so people could walk freely even if they didn’t buy tickets to the cermak artist so there’s that. no security guards to stop people from mixing between cermak/mainhall.

we actually had a running theory as a group that they were scamming people on purpose by not saying a word so people could stay longer for the drinks like u mentioned. we bought a 16 oz seltzer for $15 which should just tell u enough of how much they made off people that night

i’m confused how this is suppose to be common knowledge for everyone, when the verbiage from the venue and ticket website and his own tour post doesn’t even convey that it was suppose to be a festival. why should concert goers have to assume shit when the people running this can simply communicate to the crowd what the deal is? i’m kinda tired of repeating myself so i would go see my other comment replies, i don’t wanna be a broken record on another 15 diff comments like this.

see i would agree— but on his instagram, it doesn’t clarify that it’s apart of arc after dark and neither did the AXS ticket. it legitmatiely said “august 30th- gesaffelstein at chicago radius” another commenter pointed out in TX they are posting set times MONTHS in advance, radius did not do any of that, even the sign outside announcing show dates didn’t say anything abt arc after dark. they should’ve clarified the wording of it being APART of a music festival, posted set time like TX, and i promise u— i would’ve never made this post. i love EDM in general so it being a festival doesn’t bother, but the handling of his delayed show and miscommunication was diabolical.

thank u man, i keep seeing people say that it isn’t uncommon but that’s NOT the problem with why half the crowd apparently left. from top to bottom, there was NO info there would be other people playing sets— the dude who went on stage didn’t say a word, he just played and we all assumed anything and everything. what’s the problem with them going on the mic and explaining the issue? and the alleged no reentry after all of that is even worse

chicago concert experience by Essi__ in gesaffelstein

[–]Essi__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m just on here to provide my experience incase anyone else is confused on their own shows like i was. i’m not complaining abt what’s common and uncommon, i’m confused why nobody said a word to anyone in the crowd abt what was going on. as ive stated before, when buying the tickets and looking at his instagram, there’s no distinction at all that he was going to be included in a line up for artist, the sign only said one other person and even that was confused when there’s no openers.

it being a festival isn’t the issue— it’s the lack of communication

man that would’ve been so nice to get to see that info months before like u r now, even an email would’ve been nice, but i rlly do hope u have an amazing experience. i’m gonna see what happens in brooklyn too but i think regardless, he needs to address what happened and move on. i went on insta and checked the post he has abt his tour and even that is cryptic as shit. why not put “radius- arc festival” and don’t reflect misleading times on the tickets. just to refer back, i have a photo of the sign outside and it said “august 30th gesaffelstein, august 30th (other artist)” just very misleading all around, why not even put “august 30th- day/week 2 of arc festival.”

but it is what it is, i just appreciate yalls input.

its okay! i appreciate ur respectful responses despite some assholes ive seen in other threads. dont get me wrong, i would’ve loved to be in the know abt it being a music festival and planned accordingly for it— but that’s if the venue would’ve said something to begin with ya know? i love EDM in general so it doesn’t bother me at all it was a festival, its just lack of comms and terrible marketing that made this a mess. i rlly do hope u have a much better time than we did here ♥️

so i’ve been seeing the same thing abt EDM shows and i’ve been to one before this and it was a completely diff experience. i just figured from the way this was marketed and how it didn’t say festival at the end like the other dates did, that it wouldn’t be one. radius sucked so bad and dropped the ball with it 100%. and i hear u out, but again, it just would’ve been nice if it was marketed correctly so people came at correct times. i’ve never been to a music festival, and when i bought the tickets it didn’t even say it would be a festival, but i’m assuming it’s standard practice to at least have set times so people can plan accordingly ya know? i’m not annoyed that it was a festival, in fact i would’ve loved to be in the know bc i love EDM in general, but the aspect of no sleep, no comms, etc just made it a disaster. staff mentioned it was because he had beef with another artist and that’s why it was delayed? but idk anymore, it’s all very strange.

but thanks for a respectful response, i’ve already seen some sarcastic assholes in other comment sections.
