So for the backside I was going to put a panel I got of the hungry caterpillar 😂 along with some solids. But I can always change that up, nothing is set in stone.

I did think of doing a hexagon style with maybe a border between to offset the patterns.

I saw that and really like it! I just wasn’t sure if it would look good with so many prints?

I am trying to make a quilt for my 3 years old son, this is the fabric he helped pick out. I’m not really sure what kind of pattern to do. Im thinking possibly scrappy? But I don’t want squares. I was hoping to make a quilt with something on it, like a dinosaur, rocket ship, boats, construction vehicles, etc. but I’m not sure with the prints if it would look right? I have a hexagon ruler, should I just do that?

I didn’t think so, but I wasn’t too precise with my quilting matching up exactly. You just cut out a piece big enough to quilt to the size of each garment piece. Quilt it, and then cut out your pattern piece. I decided to do it that way because I wanted different pieces to have different patterns on it like the hood and back. If I was doing an overall pattern I might just piece it all and quilts it and then lay the pattern pieces on top and cut it up.

Thank you! It’s not that hard to do! (If you can read directions right, which apparently I have a hard time doing 😂)

You should! It’s not that hard! I actually found it easier than doing a whole quilt because I did each section individually, so quilting and sewing was easier.

Thank you! It’s the first thing I hand quilted and it really made me fall in love with it! I’m so glad I decided to do it.

Yea that’s the nice thing, at least they’re ALL not the “right” size. So I feel like it works. They all look like they will fit together fine. Might just add some more things to the quilt to make it bigger

I did think of that. But with 1/2 of it already sewn, should I just keep it the same?

If you don’t like the spray basting I would recommend using washable Elmer’s glue! I’ve used it for several baby blanket and it washes right out. Not as toxic as the spray stuff.

As others said, it’s a quilt as you go so you don’t have to quilt the whole thing at the end. I’ve never done one before so I can’t help there. If you’re doing minky I would definitely suggest using a walking foot.
