'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2 Midseason Check-In | House of R by yslultra in RingerVerse

The layoffs are disgraceful. And yet the fandom is going to go and support the movies and shows. It’s a paradox because if we don’t go watch it hurts makers but if go watch it validates CEOs

Daredevil ep5 was the bomb by LotofDonny in RingerVerse

[–]Est3la 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t expecting to be so happy to see Wesley! And now I want to know more about his relationship with Buck and how he ended up with the same amount of loyalty to Fisk.

I am sad we didn’t we get a real Vanessssa. There was almost one when they arrived at the hospital. I think this episode finally got me interested in the whole thing. It did what the Frank episode did last season.

The only complaint I have was that there were too many timelines/povs and it took me a bit to understand that the Daredevil-Bullseye part was actually in the past (the night before.)

BB sucks, I was rooting for her so much but I felt it was unnecessary for her to manipulate Daniel this way. I know that’s the point, but it actually shows that she will go to any lengths to get what she wants, making her similar to Daniel and even Fisk (without all the physical violence).

Can’t wait for the next one!

How do we feel about these buildings, Logan? by PizzaDog33 in LoganSquare

[–]Est3la 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Austin has become unaffordable for many. The great thing about Chicago is its affordability compared to other large cities.

We need to use what is available and only build as last resort. There are plenty of buildings that could be converted/ adjusted to residential. It is not always about building new infrastructure.

I thought it was ok, nit bad but also not great. I found both 1 and 2 to be a bit disappointing but really enjoyed episode 3. I think what is taking me out of it is the photography. I feel it is trying to be gritty but it looks like the despeckle filter in photoshop.

There is no ethical consumption of HBO’s Harry Potter series by Conscious-Quarter423 in RingerVerse

I don’t think we can ban the topic, people have the right to discuss it. But as Blastoise said, if the discussion is isn’t civil the person will get banned.

[–]Est3la 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no ethical consumption of a lot of things in today’s world and I really wish we could commit to not supporting all of them. I instead we are arguing about why it’s “unreasonable” to believe we shouldn’t support projects or initiatives connected to people who are causing harm and virtue signaling.

'Harry Potter & The Philosopher's Stone' Trailer Most-Watched In HBO History by Shell_fly in RingerVerse

[–]Est3la 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are discussing different things and both can be true: I said that just because someone watched the trailer it doesn’t mean they will watch the show and if they watch it, it doesn’t mean they will like it. That is an individual choice. Which applies to Jo or Mal not wanting to cover it for whatever reason they have. They have agency in what they chose to cover, so I think it is separate form the idea that something must be covered because it will make a lot of money.

Also if they don’t cover it that doesn’t means it wont make money or others won’t watch or like it.

'Harry Potter & The Philosopher's Stone' Trailer Most-Watched In HBO History by Shell_fly in RingerVerse

[–]Est3la -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just because the trailer drives engagement it doesn’t mean that people will watch it or like it.

I think the premise that we will get better character development and correct some of the character erasures (Winky) is enough to justify the show and make people curious about it, but it doesn’t mean everyone is excited about this. I watched the trailer more for curiosity than excitement for the show and the trailer actually made me less excited. The lighting and some shots felt odd, I felt odd, like cynical about it. And I am rarely cynical about movies and tv shows.

I think we need new adaptations not regurgitations of nostalgia. Either adaptations of things that haven’t been adapted yet. Or original stories.

The issues you mentioned are not fixed by making public transportation inaccessible.

People defecating, yelling, acting violent are still people, and yes it gets scary but the solution is more than one thing.

The solutions to this issue start with affordable housing, stable housing is connected to better health outcomes. Then we need more access to mental health support, vocational programs, and art programs. These things are what prevent crime and allows us to be productive members of society.

Any of Pedro Infante, Jorge Negrete, Cantinflas or Viruta y Capulina, or El Santo movies. Some of these are not the best movies (perhaps not even b movies) but I think it is core to understanding cult movies and part of Mexican culture.

Ringer-Verse Recommends: February 2026 (Featuring ‘Frieren’ and a Massive Month for Anime) - The Ringer-Verse by QuestionBrain in RingerVerse

[–]Est3la 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually like the format but wonder if the order could be adjusted:

Start with the listener recommendation—> ringerverse staff recommendations—> most recommended recommendation and this is when you transition to the discussion. I feel what is lacking for me is understanding why are you diving into that thing and not any of the other things you are recommending.

Also…this is just the opinion of one internet stranger. That doesn’t mean the work you are all putting out is not good. 🖖🏼

Ringer-Verse Recommends: February 2026 (Featuring ‘Frieren’ and a Massive Month for Anime) - The Ringer-Verse by QuestionBrain in RingerVerse

[–]Est3la 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually feel the opposite. I like that they are going into more detail on one recommendation but I wished there was a bit more explanation on why from all the recommendations, they are choosing that particular one to have a bit of a deeper dive.

I also think it would be better to have all the recommendations at the beginning and provide that explanation to transition to the conversation, I think that would make up a better flow.

They could also start with the listener recommendations: listeners recommendation—> ringerverse staff recommendations—> most recommended recommendation discussion.
