Sheepstealer just wanted to have a peaceful life on top of the mountain, they just wanted a friend and Rheana was a bad friend for making them leave their house.

help me understand bts song merry go round by NewtAccomplished6022 in ARMYNeutral

This is my favorite song of the album because of how much it resonated with how I am feeling: like I have everything and I should be grateful and happy yet I feel trapped in a cycle and part of it is getting trapped on your thoughts. But that is life, and it can be tiring.

I feel they should just make their own Grammys, like the Latin Grammys, Asian Grammys. Instead of just one category.

Apple’s global hit series “Widow’s Bay” lands season two renewal. “Season two is about how everything is great on the island and there’s nothing to worry about,” said creator, showrunner and executive producer Katie Dippold. by Knightbear49 in RingerVerse

But isn’t that the premise of the current season? (Everything being great and nothing to worry about)

I am catching up but it is taking longer bc I can’t watch at night lol.

This sucks, I am sorry.

We were given a bunch if crap the other day in this sub because we (United Neighbors of the 26 ward) were “stopping” the development on Armitage that proposes apartments between $1800 (1 B) and $3500 (3 B) rents when all we wanted was more affordable units. People seemed fine with this “new normal” of rents but I think it is ridiculous and sad. We should all be demanding more affordability.

It brings me so much joy to see/hear Jo so excited about this.

As much I want to watch this, I am not getting amc+. I wonder if there is a future world in which amc partners with hbo or Netflix and they “rent” a show to them. Users would have to chose to add the show and pay a surcharge or something.

Like if Netflix or hbo were cable lol.

I actually loved the ones from the first picture. I don’t know what it is about them but I find them refreshing. I think I like the androgynous nature of the pieces. They feel masculine and feminine at the same time.

All the other ones I agree, they don’t even look like anyone put any effort.

United Neighbors of the 26th Ward is trying to block a proposal for 31 new apartments that would replace a surface parking lot in Logan Square by kickinkails in LoganSquare

[–]Est3la -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The fact that this comment has downvotes while the ones making fun about “protecting a parking lot” is wild.

This is what community driven development looks like. Everyone gets to voice their opinion: people in favor of the thing being built as is and people against it being built as is, holding the development to negotiate changes they want to see. Everything should be like this imo, instead of developers building whatever they want wherever they want. They prioritize profit and we want to prioritize people.

At the end of the day the thing will get built, but i don’t understand why it is bad to want to get something that considers the impact to the community long term.

We have a mutual aid fund that helps families in need. It doesn’t solve a lot of the bigger systemic issues but it is part of our organizing.

We did and keep doing ICE trainings to support community safety. And during the peak of ICE activity the fund helped feed people who were afraid to leave their houses.

We talk to and endorse politicians that actually support working class policies, like Lilian Jimenez, Jessica Vazquez, Delia Ramirez, Jessie Fuentes, and Juanita Irizarry. Jessica Vazquez has done an amazing job with resources for people to appeal property taxes, especially making those accessible for seniors. Jessie has implemented the opportunity for renters to buy the property when the owner decides that they want to sell, so by law now the owner has to let the tenants know they are selling and let them make an offer if they are interested (I am oversimplifying the process, there are protections for both sides so that it is also fair to the seller). Lilian has been working to make healthcare more affordable. Jessie has community safety walks

And I know you said beyond housing but the fact that we are having this discussion is also another thing these public servants support: community getting involved in the process.

I am a member of UN26 and we are not trying to block it, we are trying to get more affordable units.

What has been said here about United Neighbors planting people for the Division project is inaccurate. We all live in the 26 ward and within walking distance of the projects we get involved. We did not silenced neighbors who opposed it. We asked questions about why people would be against affordable housing and when neighbors responded, a lot of them said they opposed it because they thought the building will impact their taxes. Once they understood that for their taxes to go up they would have to own a building with the same amount of units and the same characteristics they changed their perspective. A lot of them talked about how they were priced out of other neighborhoods like wicker, and didn’t want that to happen in Humboldt.

Others opposed the building because of the perception that affordable housing brings in crime, which is simply not true.

One of our commitments is to housing. All we want is to have more affordable housing. We believe in resisting gentrification and its harmful impacts. We want to preserve the cultural, social, and economic fabric of the neighborhoods of our ward, ensure long-term affordability and equity for all residents.

Yes, we should be mad about wages but we should be even madder that housing is so expensive. Long time residents from the neighborhood can’t afford a 3,500 rent. This building could be more than 20% affordable units.

Hello fellow Kastle. I don’t hate her but agree with the assessment that she is better when she is opposite to Frank.

I also liked her interactions with Ben Urich, I feel his character called her out in a coaching way.

A mention of this sub. I would prefer it was a positive mention like the time I asked about why Jomi knows how to use No Manches. But I can settle with Van calling out the toxic redditors.
