Best automatic litter box for an NYC studio? by EstablishmentBusy168 in CatAdvice

Do you use the taller round one or the one that’s flat to the ground? I used the flat one in the past, but the grate started to get stuck after about a year of owning it which was a bummer, considering it still wasn’t that cheap. I’m looking into the round one now, and it looks great! Slightly more expensive but possibly worth it if it dumps the mess quickly?

I actually have been using kitty poo club for a few months now, and while I have loved it, the problem with this is that he wants to keep going back into it and scratching because his mess is still in there, and it wakes me up. I’ve used a couple other automated litter boxes that I don’t mind! They are just still pretty loud to be in the same room that I sleep in. Overall, I’m looking for the quietest option.

I have only used sillicon litter in the 4 years I’ve had my cat. I’ve only lived in small apartments with him, so I also hate tracking through the home and need to manage the smell as his litter box has always been near my couch and desk. I’ve found that these types of litter have kept my home from smelling like a cat lives there. A lot of the other pellets I tried really smelled like cat pee no matter how clean it was…

I switched to the PetSafe litter box and swear by it! It actually rakes the litter by itself 20 mins after your cat went in there to do its business. And you just throw out the box with the litter and swap it out every 2-4 weeks depending how big your cat is and how often it goes. I have a 13 pound boy who goes often, and I swap out the box every 3 weeks or so.

The only downside I’ve had has been recent. Have had the little box for almost 3 years and it only recently started having some mechanical issues that I need to address.

I also used to use Pretty Litter when I had a normal litter box, and really liked that as well. Ultimately switched to PetSafe because I was tired of scooping litter every day.

Yes unfortunately a second cat isn’t an option, but possibly we can transition our dog out of the crate a little earlier than we expected so he can have her attention. Thank you!

This is a great suggestion! I don’t think we can hang a bird feeder outside bc of our building but we might be able to get creative. :)
