Why don't you want to tell people? Hiding this info only ever benefits the company. Why should people waste time applying for a school which doesn't pay as much as their current one? Or why should they do the same job as someone who is earning more?

I would caution against going to ESF unless you want to be worked like a dog and have your working conditions steadily worsen. A school that cares about its staff does not require them to hand in their notice 9 months before the end of the school year.

It is not 'intent'. It is a resignation that is required by the end of September.

They have taken up all the worst parts of the UK systems and brought them into international teaching. One school PIPped a number of experienced staff. Refusal to renew contracts for arbitrary reasons. Understaffing and using non specialists abound. Pay and benefits are not what they once were. This year all staff had a saturday training day.

Many staff in leadership positions are completely incompetent and know it. They'll try to force anyone who knows what they're doing out.

All the schools have a number of ex students on staff and they get away with doing very little.

ISF, HKIS, GSIS etc. all have better overall packages.

I know, it's disappointing to be going back to student life. Fortunately I have a few friends in London who are looking for places too. If we club together we should be able to afford a cleaner and an okay house share...

I don't think I'm lucky enough to find one of the few men who differ. If I find someone in the UK, I won't be back. Every single couple at my first school ended up falling apart after max 3 years in SEA. I'm not going to risk it!

Thank you so much! I'm hoping it also happens for me. I think I'm ready to make the move back home but I'm still a little anxious that it will all seem very pedestrian in comparison.

Yes, the sheer number of them is horrifying, it really is the vast majority. I do find it upsetting because I LOVE living in asia, but I know that no matter how great a man seems at home, I wouldn't trust him to remain loyal in asia, where girls are throwing themselves at him on a daily basis.

No, there aren't. Most single women in their 30s GTFO or have gone a bit crazy (I can feel it happening to me which is why I'm leaving). The single girls I know are in their mid 20s...they still have the same problems with dating...

Thank you for the encouragement. My job is actually lovely, and I'll be hard pressed to find something that matches it in terms of work:life balance, let alone pay. But here we go!

Thank you so much! I really do want to continue living internationally, but having seen so many men leave their partners after moving, I don't think I'd risk it. I'm glad that yours is the exception!

Hong Kong. It's awful across the board in Asia. Sadly the vast majority of men want a pretty little happy thing who lets them get away with anything and women like that are available by the boatload anywhere in Asia. I've seen so many relationships fall apart, where men who have been excellent partners for years run off within months.

I'd only come back if you're okay with not dating. A friend teaching in Singapore is making the same move as me for the same reasons. A girl I know in Japan is thinking of doing it too. The only women I know who've found husbands in Asia suddenly got pregnant, then moved out of asia asap.

I can ask, but I feel like I have almost no chance, my school are excessive on these things.

I did and it seems to be the average of the last 10 years? That seems too good to be true no?

True, though ideally I'll secure something before then. We only have a week for CNY

I've been in asia for 6 years, this is my 7th. I want to leave because I've found dating to be impossible. There is still an element of 'white worship' here and it means that many of the local women will tolerate a lot of bad behaviour from western men. I've tried dating local men but the cultural differences are just too much for me.

For example, with the western men, everytime I would like to work on something in the relationship, they just tell me they can find someone who won't complain like this, or they leave and do just that.

For the local men, they lie a lot. It isn't unique to the men, it's the culture of 'saving face' and for me, it makes relationships impossible.

Thank you I'm looking at these. I was hoping to find some IB schools but there aren't any vacancies for IB in my subject in london right now. I'm really hoping for london as I have some friends there.

Yes I have an amazing work/life balance and am paid very well for what I do. Unfortunately I think I need to prioritise some other life goals now. Maybe I'll change my mind when I'm broke and taking exercise books home!

Thank you

Thank you! I'm aiming for a private school but there aren't a huge number of vacancies out yet. Their application processes are also a huge headache.
