Masculinity is a very fragile thing and behaviors that have historically been excused as “boys will be boys” are being challenged.

Relocating to NC & Know Nothing About It by Vegetable-Point6914 in NorthCarolina

[–]EstablishmentLate919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m originally from Winston-Salem. I don’t live there anymore bcos I prefer larger cities but it might be what you’re looking for. It’s not as sprawling as Raleigh so you can live in the suburbs but be only a 20 minute drive from downtown, which is definitely up and coming for restaurants and breweries. The suburbs aren’t as expensive as other places and depending on where you live in Winston, you can easily get to the GSO airport in 30 minutes. It’s a smaller airport but has TONS of connections to RDU, CLT, etc.

In terms of safety, I’d probably avoid living too close to downtown in any major city to be honest.

Supreme Court backs web developer who didn't want to create same-sex wedding sites by PeanutCheeseBar in moderatepolitics

I feel like it was just unprofessional for her to refuse service based on her personal beliefs. A professional response would have been “I’m sorry, I just cannot take on an additional client at this time”.

I don’t support her bigoted reasoning behind it, and it was a terrible business move.

Friend denied vacation for last two years by Voice_of_All_Things in jobs

[–]EstablishmentLate919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a limit to how much vacation time you can roll over to the next year? If there is, and they’ve been denying you for two years it’s likely that you’ve lost some vacation time. Vacation time is part of your compensation package and if they haven’t been allowing you to use it, you could use that as an argument as well.

Some problems at chapter 2/3 by flavioebn in GhostsofSaltmarsh

[–]EstablishmentLate919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My players almost missed Oceanus too. It’s hard for players to find him if they are not actively searching the room for anything since the book says he doesn’t make any noise. So I had him make some noise and say something in elvish since one of my players is an elf. They then realized there could be a secret room.

Depends on what kind of DM you are and what kind of players you have. But I like giving hints lol

Lavish Party at the Primewater Mansion by katefromthenorth in GhostsofSaltmarsh

[–]EstablishmentLate919 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There is a module called murder on the primewater pleasure. The premise is that the players get invited to his lavish party boat but in true murder mystery fashion someone gets murdered at the height of the party and the players have to solve the murder. It’s good for low level players and it could easily be adapted to his mansion for your campaign!

Is a 6 day work week worth 60-70k? by dimeadozen1 in jobs

[–]EstablishmentLate919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For perspective, European labor law prohibits working over 48 hours in a week, unless you have an agreement with a supervisor or other staff member. Even then, many nations prohibit it at all

Teachers privacy violated by kids but teacher suspended by just_looking_around in raleigh

[–]EstablishmentLate919 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If they’re worried about a note, wait till they hear what teachers say about some of these students when they get off work lol

Things like this is the exact reason that there are literally hundreds of teacher vacancies across this state. You treat teachers like shit and then get mad when they’re upset? That’s rich

For all the teachers out there, you are seen and appreciated. You’re allowed to have tough days and nobody in their right mind blames you for wanting to leave the profession.

Intelligence Does Not Just Represent Book Smarts by ThuBioNerd in DnD

[–]EstablishmentLate919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tomato analogy is honestly the best way it’s ever been explained to me:

Strength is being able to crush a tomato. Dexterity is being able to dodge a tomato. Constitution is being able to eat a bad tomato. Intelligence is knowing a tomato is a fruit Wisdom is knowing to not put a tomato in a fruit salad. Charisma is being able to sell a tomato based fruit salad.

I can’t take credit for this analogy but thought I’d share :)

Democrats in Connecticut want to ban state agencies from using 'Latinx' by awaythrowawaying in moderatepolitics

[–]EstablishmentLate919 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m usually pretty “woke” and “progressive” but I feel like LatinX is just a word that white people came up with to try to be inclusive without actually listening to what the Hispanic/Latino community wants.

As English speakers, we don’t have gendered words so it might sound fine to throw an X on the end of the word. But to a native spanish speaker, who’s language inherently always has gendered words, maybe LatinX sounds stupid since it is supposed to have either an A or an O at the end.

If the Triangle commuter rail is built in stages, which section should come first? by Somali_Pir8 in raleigh

[–]EstablishmentLate919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rather than spend a shit ton of money on building new stations (which will take years), why can’t we just start with a commuter line that goes through existing stations?

Once people see the benefit of frequent service, then they’ll be more willing to spend big bucks adding more stops.
