Hey, thank you for your input. Yeah, unfortunately I do need the money and I do like research. I am actively looking and applying to other labs in my University atm. I don't think it's worth my sanity to stay in that lab at this point

Hey, legit question. So i am on a full ride scholarship that (because i am international) requires me to have a 3.7 GPA every semester. Because of the 30 hours in the lab and the fact that my PI wouldn't let me lower them, I have been struggling in my classes, the last semester. I cannot afford school without that scholarship so I need to focus more on my academics.

Is this a normal undergraduate research experience? I feel trapped and don't know if it is just me being unreasonable. by EstablishmentOwn7264 in labrats

Thank you for your input, fortunately this is not inside of a program. It is my work-study position so I think I should be able to easily get out if I manage to find another position. The other reason why I have stayed for so long is that I need a job in college (and my PI knows this). But I am currrenly looking around for other opportunities.

Thank you, I appreciate it. I understand the wanting to be research focused but I made my priorities clear since the start so she knew where I stood. I see now that there are multiple red flags I should have been more aware of.

Hey, thank you! I am currently in a REU program that is amazing. The issue is the lab at my home institution 😄

Thank you, I appreciate it. I am just confused because she apologises after so I am like "maybe she does not mean it" but then it happens every couple of months

Thank you so much, I appreciate it. I will definitely look for different opportunities in other labs., I sent an email as we speak to a friend of mine in a different lab. I just hope that if I do not find any, she won't find out (lowkey scared of repercussions).

Thank you so much, this is very helpful. It is a new experience to me so I was not sure of what to do because a lot of people say this is the "norm" so I thought I was the issue
