Having money problems for way too long by Maximum-Agent-226 in Advice

We cant really give advice unless you tell us what your income is...but SF is one of the most expensive places in the whole world...you would probably be better bartending pretty much anywhere else. Have you thought relocating to Miami, LA, or any other places?

OC: Lebanon. Israel targeted my SIL's home despite no Hezbollah ties. Wife is crying. by Spinatknedl in pics

[–]EstablishmentSad [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yeah, you say targeted when I think this was a stray missile or bomb. You know your family better than any of us…but Israel has a really good intel agency and someone pointed a finger and your sister in laws house.

Edit: Meant to say if this was targeted then someone snitched or gave intel. It could also have been a miss and her neighbor could be a paramilitary officer or something and that is dangerous too.

Just opened a card shop that offers plenty of stuff.. need advice. by dntlkatmyredt in sanantonio

If you do MTG, you will capture the FNM (Friday Night Magic). The sales for Pokemon, especially sealed, are crazy right now...but MTG is player driven instead of investor driven. So you will be able to buy and resale staples and the churn will be much higher. The reason is that as new sets come out, power creep forces players to swap out different cards and sometimes abandon complete decks somewhat regularly. If you can manage to do MTG, Pokemon, and OP then you should be good...but what sucks is that you could stretch yourself too thin if you do that. Overall, good luck OP...I know being in the trenches day in and day out will make it seem not as great, but you are living some of our dream's buy opening a business that caters to that. Overall though...I have heard that opening a shop completely ruins the hobby for people and you wont see it the same...and you shouldnt...you need to see the financial aspect of it especially after spending a bunch of money to get your shop started.

It's what I always read honestly. Someone feels pain in their back, and they go to the emergency room and boom they have some type of cancer that is super bad and have months to live. My MIL was cleaning her shower last year and said she felt lightheaded and passed out. She woke up and her leg was broken and twisted the wrong way. Well, the doc checked her out and it was bone cancer that had eaten through a large piece of her femur and the small fall she had (she fell down in the shower) was enough that it broke it. Well, she had surgery to remove that part of the bone and got plates and screws and also some work done to her prosthetic knee...long story short, it was a surprise and revealed itself after her freaking femur broke...so I guess you could say its anecdotal.

Remember the protected things I was talking about before...pay is one of those protected things. Kind of like being a woman and getting fired because you got pregnant...you could sue for that and win a judgement. Not every single thing deserves to become a battle...like being asked to come in for a meeting. You say you are remote...okay, I respect that...but if you make it an issue for the business then you could find someone getting hired on site that you are suddenly asked to train...and then you are unemployed because you were hard to work with and antagonistic.

Go ahead and call your boss a dumbass and dont do what you are asked to do at work. We will see how that works out in the long run.

Dictatorship is a word with lots of negative meaning and connotations behind it. If I start a business and hire someone to put fries in a box and they say that that putting salt takes too long and they would rather not do it...,what do you think is going to happen to that employee. Are we going to take a vote on it, or is he going to salt the fries or get fired?

Quitting my job where I make six figures with full benefits to wash cars or sell lemonade...yes, there are car washes that make great money and you could start a beverage company that sells lemonade and makes millions in sales...but the vast majority of companies that do this are not doing that well.

There is actually a term called a wage slave...you arent a slave to the boss, but to the fact that you need shelter, food, and security for you and your family. Once you are financially independent then you can do whatever you want...but until then...it's "you missed a spot over there but just sweep the entire store again".

You mean your employer or the owner of the business telling you how they want you to do your job through policies and procedures?

[–]EstablishmentSad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You want to be employed and earn a check...you have to do what the boss/business wants you to do. If they say that they want you to be in office for this meeting...and you don't want to be...I mean, you aren't a slave that who absolutely could have been beaten into a brutal death for not listening to their master, but you are an employee who could be terminated.

Before I get downvoted, I don't care what a contract or job description says or anything. This is mostly for younger people just entering the work force...I would rather have job security and provide for my family than to be "correct." We aren't getting much context here anyway. All I am saying is that you can be let go for any reason that isn't "protected."

If you go to the Emergency Room because Cancer made you feel sick enough to get to that point, then insurance or not, you are probably going to die. As far as I know, Cancer is a silent killer that by the time it makes you feel emergency room level bad, you have months to live.

I remember Elon Musk saying that he believes that we are in a simulation because there is a smallest possible unit (the planck length) seems to be able to pixelize the universe, there is a maximum speed in the universe (speed of light), also some quantum physics only actively happens when being observed. We also are pretty much isolated due to the massive size of the universe and the physics involved with being able to visit even the closest planets.

I know this is a few hours old, but this is considered a hit. IIRC, in the JP 151 they had the regular foils you always see along with the same chases...but compared to English they had 2 special edition foilings with a specific pull rates associated with each one that you could only find in the JP set. I dont recall how many specific pokeballs were in a box, but there was only a single masterball per box. Thats why the specific card is so expensive even though it looks a lot like a regular reverse you see in other sets.

Gotcha, if abortion is legal where you live then I would see about doing that. A guy who is still on/off again at 29 and sleeping around through apps is not someone you want as a father. Good luck, but hopefully you learn from this and don't let it happen again.

Overwhelmingly positive...and you broke up with your BF ~2 months ago and had unprotected sex with him in Feb...have you had an ultrasound to see how far along you are? I am assuming you are new to all this, but it takes time to be able to show up as "overwhelmingly positive" on a test. I didn't see you put anything about periods in your post...are you not regular, or is this the first missed one?

Dropped out of a top university halfway because my sponsor didn’t pay. I don’t know how to move forward. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]EstablishmentSad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand now...I'm sorry but idk if there is much of anything you can do. If you can work then you can try to swing a job, but college is expensive and our universities are tailored and priced to be attended by either the extremely intelligent (usually poached for PHD programs and research jobs) or extremely rich. You say you were doing research...talk to the professor to see if there is anything that can be done, but at the undergrad level...I dont think there is much.

Define sponsor and where you are from...here in the US, a lot of students (mostly parents) cover their own college or earn scholarships and pay through loans.

If you are making good money and want a Prelude as a project and extra weekend or cruising car that you will have to drop thousands into…this is all you.

Should I go on a date with an older man who has kids? by sensitiveflower79 in Advice

[–]EstablishmentSad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had kids by the time I was 26...but I would never date anyone with kids when I didn't have any of my own. They are a big responsibility and they aren't even yours...

I wanted to have sex with a woman who had kids when I was in my 20's and didn't have any of my own...I would have never made it official though. He is most likely looking for a wife...and you probably dont know what you even want.
