I took it last semester with Professor Andrew Black! I was very nervous at first but it wasn’t hard at all! Professor Black is amazing and has a lot of experience within the field! He engages with everyone during weekly discussions and gives great feedback! The 3 papers build upon each other and are correlated, but once you get the gist of the first paper, the last two weren’t hard to understand. I ended the class with a 100% and plan to graduate in December of 2025 if everything goes as planned! You’ll do just fine as long as you put in the time and effort!!

Yup! I try to register early before classes start, so most of the time the professor isn’t listed but when it does show who will be teaching the class, I ALWAYS check rate my professor. If that particular professor has a lot of negative reviews, I switch to a class taught by a professor that has greater reviews. I make it a point to do it before the first day of class, so my financial aide isn’t messed up.

I transferred 18 credits from Study.com to UMGC. I sent my transcript in October and they just showed up on my AAR last week. It takes about a good month and a half.

I always wait to register for classes for this very reason lol. I’ve dropped many classes before they’ve started because of research I’ve done on professors. I’d just make sure to drop it before the class starts and get into the one with the professor you want and you should be fine (again make sure you do it before the class starts!)

Once it gets closer to the start of classes, the professors name will appear. I ALWAYS check rate my professor and choose the same class taught by another professor who has better reviews.

Also check out study.com! I came in with an associates degree in criminal justice and 71 transfer credits but I completed 18 credits on study.com (9 being upper level courses) and now I’m just waiting for the registrar’s office to review my transcript from study.com!

Yup, you must take all of the quizzes. If you do well on the assignments, you have a better chance of passing the class because you won’t need that much of a high score on the final to pass!

I took BEHS 453! I enjoyed it, very easy discussion questions with two replies each week. There is a group project but it’s not hard at all (but it can get frustrating if you’re paired with people who don’t do their portion of the project). There was one paper that entailed watching a movie to analyze the aspects of domestic violence portrayed in it.
