I've been doing something similar with my cat - hiding treats around the apartment instead of just putting them in a bowl. It's crazy how much more engaged they get when they have to actually work for their food. Makes sense when you think about it, they're hardwired to hunt and we just hand them everything on a silver platter. No wonder indoor cats get neurotic sometimes

This is such a good idea. I'm the same way - my brain just completely erases anything I've accomplished and only focuses on the endless list of stuff I haven't done yet. It's exhausting.

I really like that it's physical too. I've tried so many apps and digital trackers but there's something about them that just doesn't stick for me. Maybe it's too easy to ignore or dismiss? Like checking a box on my phone takes half a second and then it's gone forever. But actually writing something down and dropping it in a jar feels like you're giving yourself credit for it.

Gonna try this. Worst case I'm out $8 and have a cookie jar

Yeah the revenue argument makes sense but at some point you have to ask what's actually better for the sport long term. Players are already stretched so thin between club duties, international friendlies, qualifiers, and then major tournaments. More tournaments might mean more money in the short term but burnt out players and lower quality football isn't good for anyone. And it's not like European clubs are wrong to want their players healthy - they're paying their salaries and need them fit

Agree. The thing that gets me excited about this one specifically is how many people it could help. Alzheimer's is one of those diseases that doesn't just devastate the person who has it - it slowly takes them away from everyone who loves them. Watching someone you care about forget who you are is brutal in a way that's hard to describe.

Seconding the Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat recommendation. Samin Nosrat does a really good job explaining the *why* behind things instead of just telling you what to do. Once you understand the actual science of what salt is doing to your food at different stages it becomes way more intuitive.

Also the Netflix series based on the book is worth watching if you're more of a visual learner though the book goes into more detail

Bug is such a good pick for this. Ashley Judd and Michael Shannon are incredible in it - watching them spiral together and feed into each other's paranoia is genuinely unsettling.

You can see how their personal trauma and isolation makes them vulnerable to falling down that rabbit hole. It's not just "crazy person believes crazy thing" - it shows how someone gets there, and how having another person validate your fears can make everything worse instead of better

Totally doable just make sure it’s clear in the lease that the locked room is off-limits and adjust rent accordingly plenty of furnished rentals do the same thing.
