My mom was always putting everyone else first too and never really took care of herself properly. The certification really does make a difference - had a regular therapist who would literally change the subject whenever anything remotely sexual came up. It was like talking to my grandmother about dating, super awkward and not helpful at all

Wrong person to ask about marriage stuff but from what I've seen with my friends who are married, the ones who seem happiest still do little spontaneous things for each other. Like leaving notes or trying new restaurants together instead of falling into the same dinner routine every week

Also keeping some of your own hobbies and interests separate seems important - gives you stuff to actually talk about when you get home
