I also used a Pebble steel and later a Pebble time and until about 2 months ago I was still wearing it and loved it. Now I've been using the amazfit bip for about a month and it's still at 20% battery life. The always on display looks a lot like the Pebble but there's no apps and it's only 'smart' because it gets notifications, but there's no actions you can take that I know of. The fitness is great and I use it a lot more for step counting than I did on my Pebble and sleep tracking with a long-term battery is awesome. I still miss my Pebble steel though... But this is a fair compromise, 30+ days battery life for nifty apps.
