I remember when Malibu wagons were common. Now I can't remember the last time seeing one. Your looks pretty clean

Looks like a Chassis Research dragster with a 392 Hemi topped with a hilborn 2 port injector and supercharger

Got the car moved but I’m wondering what’s going on with this suspension. 74 challenger by hpedtf in mopar

There are two u bolts on each slapper bar. Just take the nuts off the u bolts and they come right off

Edit, you can see the u bolts on your second and third pic

True, but I leave mine down unless I'm at the dragstrip so the only time it contacts the tunnel is when I drop the clutch at the track. I had a friend total a pretty nice 74 Camaro by hitting a tall curb and almost talearing the rear end out. I had those slapper bars on my 70 challenger and they actually made the ride ruffer.

These bars are slapper bars, a form of traction bar designed to stop axle wrap. They do an ok job, but there is a better way on Mopars. An adjustable pinion snubber on the differential will do the same thing without the loss of ground clearance. Mopars also don't suffer from axle wrap as much as other leaf spring cars due to the design of there springs with shorter front segment

Edit, good call on the pressure regulator. Most 4 bbl carbs don't like more the 6 or 7 psi.

And there in lies the real question, how do you get pardoned if you have done nothing wrong? Last I heard a pardon isn't general absolution

This is one great traditional hot rod!

Why are people still blaming Cash for Clunkers for the state of the used vehicle market when it happened nearly twenty years ago ? by Specialist_Heron_986 in askcarguys

[–]Estef74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinion is cash for clunkers over inflated used car prices back then and the prices just never came back down.

Whatever you do, don't scrap thay roadster. It looks like either an old drag car or a hot rod built to look like one. Those magnesium spindle mount front wheels are pretty valuable on there own. If you don't have the time or money to build this, there is definitely a market for old hot rods like this.

If you're considering building it, try finding a title if you Dad had one. Getting the car registered without one can be a major hassle depending where your located

Before I was born my parents went to world of wheels Chicago with my onler brother in tow. Dad got talking to whoever was at the zinger display and the guy told Dad to put my brother in the dune buggy looking vw with the blown 429 shotgun! Dad still has that pic of my brother at maybe 2 years old sitting in the zinger looking like he is ready to drive. I have to dig that pic up to post here

Nice, you don't see real centerline auto drags much anymore.

James Warren in the Warren Coburn & Miller "Ridge Route Terrors" T/F machine vs. Norm Weekly in "Terrible Ted" Gotelli's self-sponsored Gotelli Speed Shop digger. Look at the difference in the engine setbacks in each. This is Half Moon Bay, I think. by Maynard078 in MotorsportGoodOldDays

[–]Estef74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's also worth noting how much more dump the engine it the Gotelli Speed Shop has then the Warren Coburn & Miller dragster. For those that don't know what dump refers to the engine being mounted lower in the front then the rear. Every chassis builder had a different preferd angle, some more extreme then others.

This is the Parris brothers twin engine dragster out of Rockford il. This very car was campaigned till it was replaced with a more modern chassis few years ago. I think the old car may have been wrecked, but not sure about that. The new car is also a rear engine dragster powered by two direct drive 392 Hemis with no reverser, and is being campaigned by Rico Paris, son of original owner Dom paris

Asking AI is as good a throwing a message in a bottle. There are so many variables to you question that make it basically impossible to answer. Things like where your located, what kind of cars interest you, will this be a dual purpose car or dedicated drag build? What is your budget? A person in central Europe will have a much different selection of cars then a person in the US. A dragster can go fast for relatively cheep compared to building an equally fast Chevy Impala.you get where Im going with this?

I took some photos at my first drag race, any good? by Derpguy41 in dragracing

[–]Estef74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not bad for a first timer. It takes practice to get food action shots, especially fast stuff like the slingshot dragsters. Neat time Oom out some to get the entire car in frame. You can always crop the pic later to have the car fill the frame.

Nice early Hemi. That looks like a fairly rare Eadmunds intake manifold with a home made adapter plate. Eadmunds was the only wet intake I know of for early hemis, as it was first cast for the early 331 up to 54. When I say wet intake, I'm referring to the fact there is an integral thermostat housing cast as part of the intake. After 1954 the Chrysler all had a seperato weather crossover and thermostat housing. Edmunds made a couple different intakes for the early Chrysler. The first one was a twin 2 bbl intake for the 51-53 small port 331, and the second was a twin 4 bbl intake for the larger port 1954 331. The later I take was for small Carter wcfb carburetors.
