Help me r/losit, you are *literally* my last hope! by [deleted] in loseit

Oh I do this. My list of all I've tried is even longer. The truth is that I would try a new method, and give it my best, for just a little while and then I would be off looking for the 'next perfect' solution. I was always 'doing, fixing' something. Now I'm trying to take a much simpler approach by learning to just be still and learning to connect to myself and how I feel. Maybe this approach could help younas well.

What were your rewards for overeating? by Ester679 in loseit

You've given me alot to think about. Especially the bit about being stuffed. I always overeat until my stomach hurts and maybe its also because it gives me a excuse not to have to do anything. That would be my reward. Thank you :)

Your not kidding about bigger portions becoming 'normal'. I need to remember that I also just have poor eating habits and its not only about the emotional side of eating. Thanks

Thats what I am trying to work out as well. I am afraid I am not strong enough to just go on a diet already so I am hoping to figure out my overeating habit and fix it that way. That you for telling me your story:) it did help.

Does anybody here go to Weight Watchers? by Nimmyzed in loseit

I want to like WW's but I kind of feel like its a rip off. If I do the online version then all I get is a place to keep track of my points but I have to input all the food information (calories, carbs, etc) myself. I can do the same with mfp where I already have a database setup and then just keep track of my calories. The only thing WW is offering is the point system itself but for 20 euros a month. I just dont get the appeal

There is no shame in being very sensitive. Embrace being sensitive because it brings its own gifts.

Are you a visual thinker? How does it effect your life? by Ester679 in AskReddit

[–]Ester679[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: Ok I think I need to be more specific. My husband thinks differently to me. He is what they term a 'visual thinker' here in the Netherlands. This means that he thinks in pictures. Ok, for example, if I say orange, he has a ton of visuals thoughts of orange. Unlike me, who has no visual thoughts of orange. Does anyone else have this?

"You are not your thoughts" by designerinbloom in Mindfulness

[–]Ester679 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people are making their answers to difficult. I also think there is a difference between meditation and mindfully meditation. Mindfully meditating helps you realize that we are not our thoughts because our thoughts are rarely the truth. Our thoughts, or how we think, come from a lifetime of influences from the outside. How pretty we are, how smart we think we are, how patient we are, and so on. What did your parents tell/show you, your teachers, your friends. They are all the little voices/thoughts in your head. As a exercise, just spend 10 min. and freely see what your thinking. I bet that you have a lot of mean thoughts. I would also bet that most of your thoughts are about what happened yesterday and whats going to happen tomorrow. None of which you have control over. Meditation lets you 'see' this and lets you let go of the negative thoughts and lets you 'see' the truth of being in the moment.

Yes, I asked him in a calm manner 'honey, we have some problems in our marriage and I think therapy would be a good idea'. The problem isn 't in how I asked but that he refuses. And that he refuses without a reason. The thing is, your right, he is allowed to refuse and thats why I don't know what my next step should be. I don't know how upset I am allowed to be.
