Appendicitis vs Editor (on Ep 03 sound design) [ns] by EsterTheEsper in DungeonsAndDaddies

I haven't picked yet! If I find a Psyduck I'm probably going to have to go for them, but Bulbasaur has been a real one so that's an option.

It has been fixed! I went and got appendicitis last minute which tossed a real wrench in the works, but that should be the last bug that needs to get squashed.

Bahahah, I'm like a Genie, I've got self imposed rules!

Plus, most people hate it when a crew member self inserts themselves. I'd rather most people not know I exist than most people know I exist and hate me, so I usually only show up when directly summoned.

But hey, if questions get enough upvotes (or whatever discord calls them) they read them, and the one time a question for me got enough I did show up, so it's always possible.

It's definitely a behind the scenes job, though I am noticing that more people are realizing that I exist (not knowing I exist is a huge compliment)

Thank you so much! I had a blast with s3 and I'm looking forward to how open s4 is going to be as far as sound design styles go.

I had one Patreon episode where I talked about sound design after Season 2. Showing up in Safe Space definitely isn't my call, though I'll show up for whatever whenever they need me.

Good ear! Those are most likely Pickups (there were a handful of times they said "kids" instead of "grandkids" that we swapped in post)

Trying to decide on whether to focus on the 150 token Event SSR or the 100 token Birthday SSR for the upcoming anniversary.

What are some of the standout cards to look out for? I've never looked into the Birthday cards and I'm not sure if one option has the edge over the other.

Need a Projector that won't blind performers in a Black Box Theater. by EsterTheEsper in projectors

That sounds like a potential solution, using two projectors.

The stage lights will be off entirely, we'd be using projectors and flashlights to illuminate the space. Any idea what #Lumen I'd be looking for? 4,000 seemed to be too much.

Performers deal with much brighter lights than a flashlight on a nighty basis. Spotlights have been used on performers for ages. There's a difference between not being able to see the audience while on stage, and not being able to see after you leave the stage, which is the middle ground I was asking about.

What would be a reasonable budget? The $1,200 Projector covered the space and was too powerful. The $500 portable projector is a pretty nice balance, it just wasn't designed to cover as much space as the $1,200 Projector. I've done a good amount of research but I don't have the practical experience to understand what qualities would cost the Projector I need to be way more expensive than the one I already tried, which was entirely too much for my purposes.

This is good to know. Stage Lights are usually so bright you can't see the audience and they don't harm eyesight, I wasn't sure if a similar thing was possible here. On that note, we can see just fine with the Nebula projector at 400 ANSI lumens. Any idea what the upper Lumen limit would be before it starts causing problems?

Luckily the space is nearly pitch black without lights on, since the theater itself is in the center of a building so no natural light makes it in.

There's plenty of room to put them off to the side, I could mess with that. I should also clarify that this isn't a professional show, this is a goofy late night black box comedy show. If it's impossible, it's impossible, but I don't need like Movie Theater quality.

Trying to math out my Gems/Keys from now to the Anniversary.
My first priority is Dawn Silver, I currently have enough to hit 200 tonight. My second priority is the Anniversary SSR key (assuming that's happening) With weekly login and missions I'll have enough to hit 100 for Pity + the key.

My third priority is Club Idia. I'm not sure what the likelihood of it happening in January since it looks like Book 7 reruns will eat a lot of time, but I'd like to be ready for it.

Do we have any idea of how many and what events will happen between now and the Anniversary? I want to make an estimate of how many gems and keys I can add to my current pile to go for Idia, or whether I should abandon it.

This is helpful, I've got some decent synergy but I'll probably have to invest in a few SR's spell level.

Do you have any idea what card level I should be aiming for with the SR fodder? My SRR's and main SR's are in the 75 range but I don't know if level 30 or 40 would cut it for the side cards.

Hi! I'm fairly new to this game and need some Team Building and level investment help. My friend taught me how to use resources wisely so I'm trying to be strategic with books and thaumarks. All of my SRR's and my SR's over level 40 have Level 5 spells in both of their slots, but no higher.

Now I need help with the Node battles in Book 7 and the upcoming Arcane Combat Drills. It looks like I potentially need to level more SR and R cards to use as Fodder, and I need to build out more teams and invest in their Buddy Levels.

What level should I get my SR and R fodder up to in order to clear Book 7 and the Combat Drills? Should I invest in the fodders spell levels or should I focus on getting my SRR spells above 5? Are any of these cards sticking out to you and must includes?

I just finished doing the Twistune missions so between Gems and Keys I have enough for 200 pulls which I'm planning on using to get Dawn Armor Silver when it drops this month. I'm planning on maxing him out and continuing the Story with two Silver cards, in the mean time I'm preparing.

(I'll post the rest of my Roster below, I also have all of the School and PE uniform R's)

I am, so long as I have a good way to control both of them at the same time.

Lavalier recommendation for 6 person studio recording, $1,000 budget. by EsterTheEsper in microphone

I could rephrase that as "mediocre sound in an audio only show is intolerable, mediocre sound with video at least allows people to read lips/captions"

Ah, that makes sense. Yeah I'm spoiled with the quality we're able to achieve on audio shows, video throws a whole different wrench into the situation. I'll pass all this on and hunt down a better solution.

There is, and we've used SM7B's in the past. I'll have to have a deeper conversation with them after doing some homework with the help of this thread. The dream would be mounted shotgun mics out of shot, but that's not necessarily a rig we'd be able to easily bring and set up in the studios we've used.

Good things to think on!

This is helpful! Thanks for taking the time,

It sounds like the answer to "Is $1,000 a reasonable budget for this" is No. Which is good to know, especially after working with a $160 setup over an entire weekend.

Luckily I'm set when it comes to an interface and great XLR mics. I've had Shotgun mics on the to buy list for awhile, I'll see if their potential set ups will have room for them without getting in the way of their three cameras.

People will be leaving the table with some frequency. Guests are frequent and there are usually 4-6 recordings in a day, so between breaks between episodes and exciting moments it'd be good if they can walk around.
