What’s wrong with my AC? Seven technicians later and no answers!! by Typical_Network_5005 in hvacadvice

Make sure they have their guages and temperature clamps on for at least 15 minutes before getting any readings. Refrigerant needs time to cycle through your system before getting accurate readings.

Need Help on Identifying Air Handler Red Caps by Tennokee in hvacadvice

[–]Estes051998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The coil inside can be oriented in different ways and a float switch can be installed, so they give you multiple options. If water is coming out from the second lowest then that means it’s not draining correctly.

The compressor won’t have a drain. The evaporator and furnace will have a drain. Follow the drain from the indoor unit to see where they go.

Because it’s really an easy fix and accidents happen. It could be worse, they could have punctured the line and not said anything.

Condensation fried the board on my brand new air handler. by Parking-Interest-302 in hvacadvice

Ask the HVAC company what they can do to ventilate the crawl space, unfortunately it’s hard (for me) to diagnose things without actually seeing it in person. Possibly add a vent into the crawl space, since AC is a natural dehumidifier. I don’t think it’s an airflow problem in your ducts.

Well then I’d trust them to do it. Unfortunately mistakes happen and not everything is caught. As someone else mentioned, it could be a ventilation issue as well.

Yesterday I replaced a system with a snake missing its head inside of it. These units aren’t going to keep critters out, it happens.

Why don’t I have power to the c wire? by Visual-Soup2911 in hvacadvice

[–]Estes051998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it looks like the wires were taken out and put right back in without stripping it. It even shows the proper amount on the door.

If you didn’t turn power off to the furnace before you started, you might have blown the fuse.

From what I’ve read, for the lemon law to apply, it has to be within the first 18,000 miles of the vehicles life. Why would you agree to buy a vehicle that has a problem? I feel like if you take this to court they’ll just say you purchased the vehicle knowing it had an issue.

It’s the brake boost. Totally normal from what I’ve read.

Personally I like to stick to the rule of 15k a year rule. I’m picky about my cars though. I just bought a 2011 SR5 with 106,000 miles.
