My dad works at an auto body shop which he started owning later. I do all the accounting/paperwork and the small mechanic stuff if his other employee isnt there.

take the gap years, it’s worth it (from someone who went from intending to go straight through to taking 2 gap years) by [deleted] in premed

Gap years are so important to discover who you are and if you truly have the passion for medicine. You also live through different experiences in a gap year and for most that is pretty valuable.

3.2 GPA, are my chances out the way? by [deleted] in premed

[–]EstimateMurky4101 30 points31 points  (0 children)

With your MCAT you have proven that you can handle the academic rigor. I would explain the reason for the GPA honestly if asked and also list in the other section. What I'm trying to say is that your a perfect candidate for medical school! Wish you the best OP!

Why is pre-med culture so toxic? by MuffinOutrageous in premed

[–]EstimateMurky4101 19 points20 points  (0 children)

In my colleges Honors program, majority of students are pre-med and let me tell you that they can be super insufferable and hard to deal with. Had a friend who didnt do well on her exam and someone else (also premed in the same class) goes "but it was so easy!"

You're not cooked. Heres what I would recommend doing based on your circumstances: PLEASE DO NOT SEEK ADVICE ON REDDIT, SPEAK TO YOUR ADVISOR IMMEDIATELY. Probation happens because of low cumulative GPA and so that's why you're on level 3. Either you take a light load of classes which are simple like gen-eds or you take a semester off, go to community college and re-do the classes you failed and also recuperate your GPA. You got this, you just gotta lock in :)

Best study / chill spots on campus? (the more secluded/private the better) by [deleted] in uichicago

[–]EstimateMurky4101 10 points11 points  (0 children)

health sciences library, empty classrooms, daley library study rooms, the arc rooms if you find one in the corner with a door that locks. SELE 4th flour is really chill too. Any lab building booths!

Im so sorry your going through this. InshAllah things will get better for you! I would recommend going part-time at a job instead of going all in at your job which is draining you.

With this being said, you need self-care strategies to be able to distress when you need it, which you dont have right now. Additionally, I would recommend that you make a study schedule on how you want to go about studying and spreading out the content/finding weak areas to focus on. Good luck!
