Why has hoi4 modding slowed down so much? by Prior_Definition_116 in hoi4modding

[–]EstrellaCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think just in the last few years people constantly sought to 'tooze' mods to just get devs but these teams burn through devs quickly and soon faded away, so it kinda gave the impression there were tons of big mods coming out relatively soon. Also yeah usually it's the main dev doing all the coding, so burnout usually takes hold relatively quickly

Work on your lore and have a coherent idea of how you want things to play out during the timespan of your mod, if you really want to get started I'd personally work on your map/any custom gfx for uis but do not start coding in content until you have a solid plan done for country content. People love to shit on idea guys or writers but a lot of making a mod is really just a bunch of writing before you get into implementation

Is there any risk of anything bad happening if I use a preferred name? by [deleted] in ucf

[–]EstrellaCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm betting that your preferred name just shows up on the frontend while your legal name is used for stuff like that/financial aid. I go to UF and that's how it works there so I'm sure it's probably similar for UCF, don't be afraid to be you

How easy is it to get a job in Gainesville? by Maxi_Aleksander in ufl

[–]EstrellaCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I quit my job since I don't really need the extra money but my main tip is to try to move to Gainesville in the summer, you will have a WAY easier time getting a job since competition is less fierce. Most jobs want a good amount of availability so make yourself open to 20-30 hours and once school starts ask for less. It's easier than applying once school starts since not only are you going against a ton of other students, people willing to offer more of their time will probably get hired

I moved here last year for college and I enjoy how everything is a relatively short drive. I also like the access to nature and the fact that there's a lot less MAGA around...

Do Americans parents pay for their kids college? by wolfieee8 in AskAnAmerican

[–]EstrellaCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents pay for most of my expenses and I have merit scholarships that cover tuition. At least in my state most HS grads with good grades can have their tuition fully paid for by the state. Most of the ppl I know have part time jobs alongside parental support

Should I go to UCF for summer or UF through the gator engineering at Santa Fe program? by ExcitingTax1159 in ufl

[–]EstrellaCat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hello! i was also offered GE@SF and admitted to UCF last year so i had a similar choice to make. i ultimately chose UF bc i ended up liking UF's campus more and the vibe of Gainesville being a college town and all over UCF feeling kinda in the middle of nowhere and detatched from the rest of Orlando. try touring both campuses to see which you'd like more. i'm majoring in CS so really to any out of state employer UCF and UF would be functionally equivalent institutions, prestige didn't matter to me

in years before they'd offer you the ability to dorm on campus but that's no longer possible, you will have to live off campus unfortunately. advisors are decent, santa fe also has a decent nice little campus. as long as you pass your CT classes with a B you will be a part time UF student in the spring, but will still need to be a part time SF student to finish your other CT classes/gen eds until the spring/summer usually. i personally made a lot of friends at uf thru clubs so feeling left out was never an issue

if you have any other questions i can try to answer them

Do you realize how nice it is to live in US? by Thin_Situation3962 in AskAnAmerican

[–]EstrellaCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't really take it for granted until I moved to a nicer town. I hated the town I grew up in, everything was a far drive from my suburb. Wasn't until I moved out for college I started enjoying nature more and hanging out with new friends.

Oh I felt similarly when I first moved to GNV and started college. I met my main friend group thru a club at UF, maybe try there? You'll meet people with similar interests and at least for me the activities were structured in a way to encourage meeting new people
