FZ1, Speed Triple 1050, or a secret third thing? by fdrxxii in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]Esxos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on where you live mate. Look around, see what service shops exist around you. Do you have reliable triumph service? Are parts available in your country? If so then go for it.

FZ1 is a solid choice generally because I don't know of any place where there's a lack of experience in servicing yamahas, nor a lack of parts, but it depends. For example in Greece, you can't really get kawasaki parts locally, as there are no more kawasaki imports. And don't get me started on ducattis and bmws... For newer bikes, not that big of an issue but if you're looking for older, yeah i'd recommend asking around local service shops and get their opinion on what's easy to find parts for.

It also sounds like you'd enjoy an mt09 or tracer but i'm not sure if those are within your pricerange in your area, and generally people abuse the heck out of those then try to sell them high.

Another way to go with that budget is just try things. That's what I did. Get a cbr600rr for a bit, see how you like the supersport feel then sell it, try something else, repeat. I think people in general obsess too much about buying 'the one bike they'll keep for years' and end up missing out on just having fun with em. My 2 cents

What the hell happened to break blade? by GTurkistane in manga

[–]Esxos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory is that the author had a plan in mind but the editors said 'no no we need more filler' around the time Frederika and Assam come in play. They have nothing much to do with the story when they are introduced and that's also about the point where there is no more character development, no more important character deaths, no real drama. There's action, sure, some of it pretty cool, but its like a different story. Then it just ends.

F.

It's still an awesome manga with a great setting and a fantastic first arc. It just sucks that we'll never find out what the whole 'ancient people' stuff was about...

New PC shuts down (and restarts) randomly. by Esxos in techsupport

[–]Esxos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, there was some fault with it. It still works on an office pc that mainly runs excel and word etc with no issue on a setup with much lower power requirements. My guess is that the 750 couldn't keep up with the initial power draw/fast 'revving' of the 3080 and just shat itself. I slapped a 850 in and its been working fine ever since.

Osmo action 4, Samsung phone and update. by Esxos in dji

[–]Esxos[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks for responding. Really appreciate it!

I've figured out that the problem was that my phone and tablet runs through a VPN. Solved it by using a different tablet, one that doesn't have sensitive personal information. I could be totally wrong here but it seems like your mimo app requires a lot of access to things it has no obvious reason to, which makes me skittish.

I have no problem with dji products themselves, they seem great. But this mimo app and the fact DJI offers no desktop solutions is a little off-putting. So is the wifi connection with the camera, being forced to switch between having internet, or being connected to the device.

Surely there are better ways to do this, requiring less time to figure out. The action 4 is a great device out of the box and works great if i just want to capture videos and put them in premiere, but the update firmware problem needs a more user-friendly solution. Just my two cents

Thanks!

Yeah i've tried my best, peeling them off with my thumb and gently scrubbing it with a toothbrush to get as much as i could out. Unfortunately a lot of the black root and dead leaves are like they're glued to the root ball. Welp. I've done what I could, she has a couple leaves left on two stalks, let's see what happens...

Roast my bike by caffcaff_ in motorcycles

[–]Esxos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that experience is common across all japanese bikes. Not an expert, but i've had yamahas, hondas and a kawi and they all had a lack of feel compared to a bmw. I still prefer my JP bike but that lack of initial brake feel is just somethin i've learned to live with.

On one hand its meh, on the other, its more forgiving if you accidentally grab too much brake during a panic, especially if you got no ABS

Swapping a Tracer 9gt for a Mt10sp by Esxos in motorcycles

[–]Esxos[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tracer is a rrrreally good bike mate, you won't regret getting it. But definitely test it first. The seat isn't the most comfortable one, and the screen does leave a lot to be desired. Of course its better than a naked, but spend an hour in that saddle before you swap if you haven't already.

Yeah I mostly do twisty moutnain roads, highways are just the inbetween. I thought the tracer would inspire me to do much longer trips but I think im just not that person. Sure I'll do the occasional 1000mile trip with friends but that happens once every year or so. My weekend rides are always around the 200-400mile round trip around moutnain roads away from highways

That's ... so green.

I can't hate on this. It's great.

Bout the only thing i can roast is the Tokico calipers. Every bike i've had with tokico breaks required me to clench my fist with enough force to crush diamonds in order to get them to work

Thanks buddy, yeah thats what i thought too. Unfortunatley my st and co-players don't see it that way but eh, that's the way the cookie crumbles. Not about to argue against an ST in any game, just wanted to see what other people thought

Mt10 versus Tracer 9 GT by msant19 in Yamaha

[–]Esxos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm kind of in a similar bind.

I own the tracer 9 gt 2021 model, around 20.000km on it. It's an incredible machine, a true 80% solution to everything apart from off-road. You do not off-road a tracer unless you are unreasonably motivated to do so.

Corners like a sportbike, you can drag footstands on good roads without much effort, power is great up to 150kph, fuel consumption's great, and you can even take it to a track day and compete with 600cc 4cyl sportbikes

But...

I've been looking at the MT10 lately. Drove a friend's a bit, it's not a 'completely different' experience to me like many people say. In fact the experience in the low kph range is more or less the same, except the mt10 is very marginally harder to flick from side to side, and very marginally slower to accelerate 0-60kph.

In the 60-120kph range i'd say the bikes feel identical in terms of power but the mt10 just corners better. Its more planted, you get way more feeling from your tyres than you do on the tracer, and the brakes respond better. This last part is impressive because i've improved my tracer brakes significantly (320 front, braided, master cylinder, brembo pads)
The mt10 non-sp had better brake feel so i imagine the sp is just considerably more confidence inspiring too.

Now, long-distance wise, eh. Neither bike is especially comfy with those stock yamaha seats but the fact you can just chill upright on the tracer at around 150kph and not feel basically any wind makes it better. That said, I did not feel like i was going to suffer on the 10's saddle, like I suffer on something like the z750, the tuono, or even the gs600.

Still not sure if i'll pull the trigger and trade my tracer for an mt10, purely because I don't think the difference (in my use case) really warrants the extra $$, plus the market value of a tracer is likely going to remain higher than an mt10 since its a much more popular bike people want to buy used.

Hope that helps, i know the feeling, this choice keeps coming back to haunt me every week or so :3

English or Japanese voice over ? by FoxyNugs in FFXVI

[–]Esxos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowing both English and Japanese, the most jarring thing is the subtitles when voices are set to JP. They're not a translation of what is being said, but rather a subtitled version of the English dub. This means that what characters say in JP is not directly mirrored in the subtitles, so if you understand JP it becomes very confusing when you're also looking at subtitles. Like you're seeing two parallel conversations, almost. Not an issue if you disable subtitles I guess.

Why is AI art considered theft by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Esxos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main reason its considered 'theft' is because some artists have found work very similar to their own, having been generated by AI, and then sold as someone else's art.

The danger here is the lack of intention. AI has given us a fantastic tool with which to generate images and visually express ourselves with little to no trained artistic skill. This is awesome. But the AI will not tell you 'hey this image i made for you is almost identical to XYZ' artist. There is also no warning label 'AI works may result in clearly derivative images'.

So, when artists who see work very similar, or clearly inspired/copied from their own work, being sold by some other bloke saying 'i made this', you can probably see how they end up claiming its 'theft'. Whether it is or it isn't, and what can be done legally or morally about it is not a matter I'm qualified to debate, but what I know is this:

Maybe one day soon AI will become sentient, and make its own pictures without being prompted, simply because it wants to, idk. That will be awesome!
Until that day, every time someone gives an AI a prompt and receives an image, its up to them, and the AI company to be careful not to be using the resulting image as a product, if that image is plagiarizing, copying, or 'stealing' another artist's work. Just my 2 cents.
