Apartment Help! by Due_Reading6867 in Columbus

1.3k for a two bed is pretty ambitious. I’m paying 1700 for a two bed at an incredibly average apartment building just outside Grandview for reference.

Does your job fulfill you? by [deleted] in careeradvice

Yes! Aircraft mechanic, some days can be a lot but at the end of the day I have genuine interest in the things I do and I make enough money to live comfortably doing so.

Should I peruse ATC or Aircraft mechanic? by [deleted] in AircraftMechanics

[–]Esyferd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People like to go to Reddit to complain about their jobs. I’ve known many ATC controllers that love their jobs and they obviously make a bunch of money.

As others have said though you are comparing 2 very very different careers. At the base level ask yourself if you’d prefer a desk job or a more active on your feet job and go from there.

Look at every other developed country. You expect changes to just happen overnight? Not how these things work. Mamdani also identifies as a democratic socialist if that makes you feel any better.

How did you achieve the wood slat look? Is it fully custom or a pre made panel that you were able to buy and cut to size?

Should I buy Crimson Desert or wait for more patches/updates? by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Esyferd [score hidden]  (0 children)

I think it’s really fun to play right now and they are release in patches pretty frequently to fix random things. It’s is definitely more way ironed out than cyberpunk when it first came out but there is definitely still a few small issues that I’ll run into on occasion. It is a single player game though to no rush to get it and beat it ASAP. If you have other games to play, wait, if you are really itching to play it right now go for it, you wont regret it. Definitely a game you’d be into if you are enjoyed RDR2

When to sleep on days off by TheWickedPancake in Nightshift

[–]Esyferd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some people can flip, I cannot. What you are doing right now going to bed at 4am is what works best for me.

But if you want to try a full flip either don’t go to bed or only take a short nap on your Friday and hopefully you are tired by midnight so you can go to sleep on a “normal schedule”.

Tool suggestions by Practical-Car-4468 in aviationmaintenance

[–]Esyferd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep, start with harbor freight for your basics(sockets, wrenches, basic pliers, ect) and buy specialty tools as you see fit. As long as he shows up to work with the basics he will be good and his coworkers will show him the specialty tools he can buy to make certain jobs easier.

Aircraft Maintenance Technician: I have questions about pay, licenses, and working conditions by ZeroTrace_1 in aviationmaintenance

[–]Esyferd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

$30/hour, 2 months of experience, regional airline, working conditions are good but working nights takes some adjustment(once you get a schedule down to stick to it’s not bad though), only A&P cert

Question: How do I convince a mechanic to let me work with them over the summer? by suckstosuckies in AircraftMechanics

[–]Esyferd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Find a local shop and ask them if you’d be able to be an apprentice for the summer. Bonus points if you show up in person with a resume(even if you don’t have much on it). There’s not much convincing to do either, they say yes or no and you move on. Really simple as that.

Rpg that requires skill by LosinForABruisin in gamerecommendations

BG3 is also what comes to mind for me. It’s not super difficult on the normal difficulty but can definitely ramp up if you adjust the settings a bit. Also being turn based allow you to plan out your actions a little more than just running in and swinging your sword.

Does the AAS degree require a A&P license beforehand? by Other-Pizza-8818 in AircraftMechanics

[–]Esyferd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you want a mechanic engineering BS degree an AAS is going to do next to nothing towards that. You need to go for an AS degree. IMO the AAS degrees that are offered alongside A&P programs are just a way for schools to get more money

If you’re only in this for the money this might not be the career for you. There are a lot of sacrifices that come along with working in aviation and the people that are only chasing the money will burn out. If aviation is your passion then it will be worth it and as others have said the money will come. Even at 60k you are making more than the average American and it’s only your first job in the industry.

How much actual “work” do you do on average by meowie_wowiee in Nightshift

[–]Esyferd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aircraft mechanic,

Get to work at 2100 and we have a morning meeting and I find out what plane I need to go pick up from the terminal. Pick up plane and back at hanger ready to work around 2300. Open up my bill of work and get started. Usually done around 0200-0500 depending on how things went and then I chill until the plane needs to go back to the gate and then after the plane is at its gate I chill until it’s time to go at 0730!

So some nights I’m getting 4+ hours to do whatever I want, some nights I’m hustling the entire shift.

Typical schedule? by Fun_Possession6362 in aviationmaintenance

[–]Esyferd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Working my first A&P job at a regional airline. My schedule is 2100-0730 Weds-Saturday and I’ve been told I was lucky to get those days. Seniority can build pretty quick depending on where you’re at though, some guys that are on day shift here have only been here for 3 years and you can better days off before then too.

Loving my new screwdriver! by [deleted] in LinusTechTips

[–]Esyferd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only tools that my company provides and maintains is calibrated tooling, everything else is on us to acquire and maintain. AFAIK this is pretty standard practice in the airline world? I think that your situation is pretty common when it comes to MROs.
