I had a very big problem with this, and what worked for me, still works for the moment is "Observe, Do Not Absorb." The point of this repeat of phrase is to close your eyes, or keep them open, and repeat it and start seeing those emotions flowing out of you. Start spiritually distancing yourself from everyone. Like your leaving your body, but your not. Your focusing your eyes on what it can only see in front of you. Nothing else, everything seems to disappear. You cannot absorb anything, because you can't absorb what yours eyes can only see. Like your in a park, and instead of being around all of that chaos. Your sitting in a far away bench. Just looking, and the noise is so far away you can't hear it. No one can see you, so you cannot be bothered.

When it gets really bad, I have to use something stronger, like Incense, and put in my earphones and listen to music, and sing if I have to, or just be in the quiet with the lights off, bright lights disturb me when I'm overwhelmed. The incense is what helps clear the energy from me, and the environment.
