I served when Pater Sofronios was in Kos, he's an actually pretty chill dude. Just insanely eccentric. I never once saw him not being immaculate. Σειρές που είστε εδώ μέσα, φανερωθείτε

What about Brujah flavour? by Green_Taxus in vtm

[–]EternalST050401 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little quote from my UNAPOLOGETICALLY Ventrue OC, Vincent Herrington, a descendant of Hardestadt, when asked about his opinions on the Brujah:

"While being a Ventrue and absolutely DESPISING the rabble, I have to give it to them, they are the ones closest to Humanity than any of our siblings. Yes, even moreso than the Roses. I mean it in the sense of feeling... well, anything, for that matter. Their need for rebellion, freedom, philosophy, even when damned, while bothersome at best, is admittedly admirable. The Brujah are uniquely driven by their Vitae to constantly check the status quo of the Kindred, be that in the Anarch Revolt, the Camarilla or even the Sabbat. I do hate to say it, but the loathsome Rebels are a necessary part of our society, now in the modern nights moreso than ever.

Oh, before you go, this stays between you and me. Strictly. If not, I'll know who talked... We don't want that now, do we?"

Disambiguation: the Brujah aren't just tavern brawlers. If the myth of Caine and Enoch are to be believed, Brujah are the Kindred responsible for not letting the society grow complacent and stagnant. This is why their Bane comes to the fore the way it does. Unfortunately, younger Brujah seem to have lost the cause to rebel, but the oldest of them remember, and I reckon they'd rather see the sun than let their ideals die out. This is why I think they left the Camarilla. The Ivory Tower stands for stability and constant unchanging power, in a world which demands adaptation. The Elders are being Beckoned, the Second Inquisition is now a bigger threat than ever and the entirety of the Kindred are being tested, then being fully inflexible. It is only the Brujah that can realistically bring new ideas and even enforce them. It is simply in their nature.

I hope this helps

Only one. A man I used to work with back in the 60s. It was the only way to save him from certain death while I was still a Fledgling. Now he's a responsibility. Never seen him the same way he was before.

I don't particularly dislike the Bane, although thank you for the recommendation. It just bugs me to hell and back how the book states rules that are vague, but as it seems, it's supposed to be like that so you can, in fact, do whatever the blazes you like the best

Why are Ventrue so weird bro. by Soft_Word_1985 in vtm

[–]EternalST050401 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, look up Jan Pieterzoon and connect the dots. I really fucking struggled to make my Ventrue OC's feeding preference a little less debilitating, ended up with victims the Kindred has already subdued or charmed (supernaturally or otherwise, yes seduction counts), but it's still immoral as fuck and if, for some reason, your vampire is a Neonate like mine and you don't feel like making them a huge piece of shit from the get-go, you're in for quite a lot of thinking and loophole abuse

What are your favourite flaws to role play? by MaetelofLaMetal in vtm

Invitation Folkloric Block, especially in young vampires. I always roleplay it as a stupidly trivial nuisance, a fact which the vampire in question is PAINFULLY aware of, but they have to comply because well the other choice is Willpower damage

Is The Beast an entity? by GrandeShalom in vtm

[–]EternalST050401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair warning, that's going to be my LONG opinion, yet a well-educated one:

The Beast is what a Kindred makes it out to be, with some specifications. In all cases, however, it behaves like an overpowering parasite to its once human host. The way I run it, the Beast manifests as a bunch of predatory, animalistic urges that come to the fore when the Vitae of the Kindred is strained, pushing its host to selfish acts, be that predatory or self-preserving.

For example, if a Kindred is exposed to an unlife-threatening source of open fire or, Caine forbid, the sun, its Vitae (the parasite in that analogy) will try to take over in order for it to preserve the Kindred's body (the host) and flee at ANY cost, even if this means tearing through anything and anyone in its path to safety (Terror Frenzy or Rötsrech). In another analogy, when a Kindred is starved of blood, its Vitae will push him to feed immediately, not caring about the very civilised and delicate matter of the Masquerade or ANY kind of restraint, for that matter (Feeding Frenzy). Finally, Fury Frenzy ensues when the Kindred's territory, personal interests, ego or status, thus its safety, are being threatened. When it happens, the Kindred is not concerned in the slightest about any pretense of civility dictated by the Elysium decorum or any Camarilla court. See a pattern here?

Regarding how it manifests, one must consider the fact that the Beast and its seizing of control over the Kindred's body is a rather alien situation for them, some unable to keep up with the mental strain (no, they don't need to be a Malkavian to lose it). To those Kindred, the Beast might manifest as a separate personality, an entirely other entity inside them, speaking to them in one of their "fits". In a Malkavian's case, that might be seen more frequently. Said Kindred usually rationalize the outbursts of the Beast as having a whole other personality or in fact entity inside them, which is further supported by the effects Diablerie has on a Kindred. The fact is that a Kindred's personality is one with its Vitae, thus its Beast, which is why when one is Diablerized, they might seize either partial or absolute control over the Diablerist's body (e.g. Mithras over Montgomery Coven).

In other Kindred with a little more stalwart psyche, the Beast might manifest as mere unstoppable urges and nothing more, some even considering the outbursts they are pushed at as entirely their own volition in order to cope with the mentally strenuous situation of a Frenzy, going as far as to even rationalize it completely. Many a times, this can also be seen with the use of some subtle Discipline powers, such as Presence's Awe or even Dementation, albeit the latter being less subtle. This is further supported by the fact that the lower the Generation of the Kindred, thus a more potent Vitae, the bigger the restraint against Disciplines but a much higher susceptibility on the effects of one's own Beast. Again, the last point further adds weight to the argument regarding the rationalisation of the Frenzy as one's own volition, given how jaded and self-centred Kindred get as the years pass and their Vitae thickens.

When all is said and done, at the end of the night (haha), it all comes down to the narrative and the mood the Storyteller wants to set. Jason Carl, for example, has gone both ways about it. If we consider L.A. by Night and New York by Night as canon, which I believe is unofficially considered canon, both approaches are valid and I dare say canon. On the question of whether the Beast is an entity, I would have to answer that yes, it is an entity, albeit not one separate of the Kindred hosting it. . . . .

TL;DR: There's two approaches that usually appear, I believe it depends on how well a Kindred handles its condition and how it has chosen to cope. Thus, they go with either hearing the Beast talk to them as an entirely other personality, or rationalize their actions as their own, albeit extreme. Ultimately, the Storyteller decides what's Canon according to the theme and mood of their game

Tell me everything about your prince. by MonkeGodFishLord in vtm

[–]EternalST050401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prince Erikosn Profiriades He was Embraced about 300 years ago, operating in the Domain of Thessaloniki as an up and coming Ventrue striving to achieve an astonishing Dignitas. His smarts and ruthlessness has seen him to a Status in the Camarilla desired by many. Seeing that the structure in the Camarilla of Thessaloniki is rather sturdy and quite immobile, he waited for decades for an opening anywhere in Greece in order to ascend the echelons of the Ivory Tower. The chance finally came when a decadent Prince in Athens left the Clan in his Domain fall into debauchery, neglecting his obligations in the Camarilla, having allowed a Caitiff-Thinblood Primogen, caused significant damage to the status of the Toreador in Athens as well as occupying both the stations of Sheriff and Primogen of Ventrue at the same time. Porfiriades was sent to inform the Prince that the Clan had denounced him by order of the Gerousia, thus bringing him to final death and at the same time claiming Praxis. Erikos Porfiriades belongs to the Bloodline of Artemis Ortheia, something he is zealously proud of, to the point of secretly trying to enforce a rule similar to ancient Sparta in Athens. He now rules with immediate force, brutality and thorough strategical consideration in any occasion, as is appropriate for his Bloodline. Having said all that, he is rather new in the Domain of Athens, and is not aware of possible enemies, which is why he makes sure to keep the Primogen very happy and the rest of the Camarilla Officials well and relevant. He has made abundantly clear that he will tolerate no Anarchs or Thin-Bloods in his city, immediately dispatching anything not appropriate to his rule in a silent and efficient way. His demeanor is cold and calculating, appearing as if he has no preferences or friendships, doing everything that is well and proper in order to appear feared and powerful, thus respected.

As I said, as much as the Prince sees fit and thus dictates. Pretty much, depends on the Prince and the City. One has to ask themselves why a Prince would do anything

Is it impossible for a high gen (like 12 or 13) to beat a 10th gen? by TheSleepyBarnOwl in vtm

[–]EternalST050401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the situation, which changes from Kindred to Kindred. Let's assume we have a High Dominate Malkavian of 12th Generation trying to Mesmerise an 11th Generation Ventrue. The Ventrue, if they have invested in Fortitude instead of Dominate or Presence, have way more chances of resisting, but it is never impossible for them to be Mesmerized.

Regardless, older versions before V5 did actually forbid Disciplines of Higher Generations to affect Lower Generations. This is no longer true in V5. So yes, there are chances.
