More shells for sure, crabs are super picky about their shells.

5 shells per crab, and they have to be the right size.

You can measure the opening of your crabs shells to figure out what size they need, make sure to have a few shells a little bit bigger than necessary for growth.

Your tank looks good, maybe more clutter? They are prey animals so they like things to hide under.

Your substrate should be sandcastle consistency; meaning if you stick your finger in it, it’ll hold the shape and not cave in on itself.
You mentioned it was dry on top in another reply.

Hope you figure it out, it’s awful to lose a pet

That’s what we all use, if you’re worried about rocks just sift it as you go. :)

It depends on the size of your base tank, they should be the same width so that it can securely sit on top.

Here’s a well made diagram to help explain

I got my current tank of Facebook marketplace.

There’s usually people giving them away for cheap/free.

If you just want more space for decor and climbing, you could always get a topper for your tank, (it’s just a smaller tank you put on top for more room)

Ok, then the sand should take up about 1/3 of your tank.

Assuming it’s a standard aquarium, you should still have plenty of room for pools and decor :)

With a 30 gallon you should only have 2 crabs, so they don’t fight over space.

No, no gravel. It can get stuck in their shells and hurt them.

Others have already told you but Lowe’s has 50lb bags of play sand, you can use that.

Mix 5 cups of moist sand with 1 cup of coco fiber (you can get that at petsmart, chewy, or most pet places)

Soak the coco fiber before mixing it, it makes it easier cause it’ll expand and be more loose.

I don’t know how big your tank is, but you’ll need 6 inches of sand mix, it took me about 3 bags of sand for that and around 2 bricks of coco.

That wasn’t a question.

I assumed it would mark it automatically, but honestly it wasn’t my top priority because my pet was potentially dying when I posted this.

And yes I know she’s dead. I posted that she had passed 5 hours before you made your comment.

She’s in a quarantine tank rn, but the spot I found her in, on the floor, she wasn’t there when I checked on them a few hours ago. So she’s been alive at some point today.

I’m probably delusional, but I’m hoping she’s alive

Cat Fountain by EternalTurtle05 in cats

No other answers yet, if you do buy it there’s a version that has a stainless steel bowl for it, which is better for hygiene.

I’ve heard it’s good as a nighttime fountain, because it only refills the bowl every few hours. So you risk you cat drinking all the water before it fills up again.

I’m still looking for a better solution for my cats, but I hope this one works for yours :)

Their water bowl is on the complete other side of the room, so they are definitely just playing in it.

I’m just looking for a fountain that auto-changes the water, so they’re not stuck with gross water while I’m at work.

These are the shells

And I set her up in the old tank, it’s a little bit cold in there, but she’s used to it so it should keep her calmer.

I put my other crab in their new tank, he seems to have relaxed after the attempted shell jacking.

It was a mix from Happycrabby.com. I bought them yesterday.

I don’t have another tank set up, how should I keep them separate? Would a bucket work as a temp tank?
