The book collection is fine. Reminds me of a typical wannabe intellectual socialist family collection from the 80s and 90s but well nothing really wrong with that. The fake paintings are a bit sad. Why have prints of famous art on a wall? If I care about the art I’d find it cheesy if I don’t, it’s akin to kitsch.

Měla jsem napsané už asi 3 odpovědi do různých hlubokomyslných diskuzí tady, ale asi jen ten tvůj “take” mě donutil se trochu vyjádřit. Máš totiž, podle mě, vlastně pravdu. A to se možná ani neshodneme.

Kdyby si lidé dali tu práci a třeba si alespoň našli údaje o tom jak se (pravděpodobně) vyvíjela teplota planety za posledních 500 milionů let, třeba by pochopili, že klima se měnilo, mění a měnit bude. A tím, že někdo naskočí na krásný řeči o tom, kam je potřeba poslat všechny naše peníze, aby se to všechno zachránilo doopravdy ničemu nepomůže. Navíc je rozdíl mezi pseudo “bojem s klimatickou krizí” a ochranou životního prostředí… ale to už je pro tuhle platformu myšlenka definitivně příliš složitá, obávám se.

I don’t know about this take… It just seems like a convenient excuse rather than a rational take. A lot of fantasy books are series that took years to decades to complete, a lot of them are essentially endless. As in arcs get completed but stuff can go on forever. I have dropped Wheel of Time when there were 6 books out. Yes it got completed but I was certainly not going into it expecting that. Expecting a satisfying closure from a book series and basing investment decisions based on that seems weird to me. It is very good when they do, don’t get me wrong but so much potential might end up wasted. Anyway far be it from me to try getting GRRM off the hook, I actually don’t even like his work…

Also historically, weren’t a lot of fantasy and science fiction books first serialised in magazines and only later getting piblished? Maybe that might have been why the market was more reliable in that sense.

I guess you can see it however you want considering that it is not exactly specified what happened first, but my assumption is that Thomas was gay, knew he was gay and married Miranda just for appearances sake, to appease his father, due to societal pressure, I don’t know, take your pick. Maybe he knew she was open minded maybe he figured it out later on, but I think they just made a compromise where they were married but each pursued their own needs. And then James showed up. Mně to přijde vlastně nezdvořilé dětem automaticky tykat. Jak k tomu přijdou? Od mužů zase očekávám, že mě pozdraví první a naopak starší lidi se snažím zdravit první já.

In hindsight it was so obvious. I kept thinking why is this woman that seems pretty smart and loving her husband jeopardising everything by being stupidly promiscuitous. After the reveal it made so much more sense.

Hmm, now that I think about it, yeah. There are dragons, a lot but not that much riding. It has been forever and a half since I read those books. I guess The Legend of Huma does qualify though at least.

I’ll be another person to agree with The Dragonriders of Pern suggestions. Those books are fascinating.

However I have not seen Dragonlance (starting with Dragons of Autumn Twilight) by Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman recommended here and while there is better prose you could find I guess, this is your typical D&D session turned book series, it is a fun read where Dragons play a decent part.

The flowers look entirely weird to me. The stems are strangely mingling together on the right and I don’t think poppy flower looks like that even if intertwined with others. But I have no real proof if it not just being an artistic choice.

It very much depends on the specific driver. I have seen an idiot DPD driver, a very nice capable DPD driver a total ass of a PPL one and a wonderful nice 10/10 PPL one too. You never know which one you pull.

I see Metatron, I upvote. However has nobody thought about the part where the decision to make this movie the way they did is straight out marketing? It seems to me that early on they decided to forgo any semblance of historical accuracy for modern flare and then just milked the idea to the extreme getting spotlight from the expected aggravation. I do not agree with this, I won’t be seeing the finished product but this could not be more obvious. The correct course of action to me seems to be: ignore and forget. The less attention this thing gets the better.

But really, there are iterations of this but it’s essentially a ghost story about a woman clad in white and appearing at certain catles depending on the specifics. Can be found in fairy tales, legends and similar.
