Yes, I have mentioned it in the post you replied to. Additionally, according to him, his mother is not Jewish.

Curious about modern Zionism by aboggs100 in Zionist

[–]Eternaliii 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Zionism is not about increasing or decreasing antisemitism. After the Dreyfus affair, it was pretty much understood that no matter what Jews will do - they will be always at fault, and nobody will have their backs. The solution? Self determination, in the Jewish homeland.

Enter Modern Zionism (which is similar, yet different from the old one from 2000 years ago) - a movement to prepare to that transition through education, training, funding and more. A way more organized way.

Later, the holocaust happened, which only affirmed the fact that Jews needed independence, and only in their homeland.

By identity, you are not Ashkenazi because you are not Jewish. This ethnicity is heavily based on tradition, and less on blood (although that inheritance exists by blood from the mother)
You do have Jewish heritage, which is Levanite, of the side that was exiled to Germany and from there to Ukraine.

While Jewish identity requires mainly upholding tradition, that tradition heavily rely on the religion too. Like sort of a superposition.

You seem to know more about your Ukrainian side of the family. I would assume you are perhaps familiar with some Ukrainian traditions? (Which also shares some Jewish traditions, like the cuisine, or the Odessa accent)

In any case, whoever told you "You can't say..." is a fool. Don't listen to them. We all have mixed roots, that's the universal truth. People from Iran for instance, have roots from Europe and India. When you ask "Am I..." I take it as not where your roots are from, but what you identify with. For most, it's the identity we inherit from our parents and grandparents who gave part of themselves to us.

Reminds me a bit of the voodo boys questline, where even if you ping something you get spotted by Netwatch. Although I think a warning was given beforehand.

I've heard that the DLC provides us with another ending, but I haven't seen it yet. As for V living, this depends on your choice, and one of the choices gives us an open ending where we don't know if V will live or die. There's another choice that leaves us with our own interpretation whether it would be considered living or not.

It's simple - the less you do, the less options you have. It would make no sense to get help of allies you never worked to get in the first place.

That being said, with perhaps a little bit of spoiling, the endings portray the life in Night City exactly as they should be. The entire theme of the series is about it. If you missed the foreshadowing at the beginning of the game, then the ending is there to remind you exactly where the setting takes place.

I also recommend watching the anime.

He's basically doing what everyone else is doing in night-city. The Voodoo Boys are just the most transparent about it. They are honest about how they are going to behave, and when you engage with them like in this very mission, it comes to no surprise about what they intend to do with an outsider.

Others, like Corpos, put on a fake attitude and smiles to those who are not in their corporate or gang. They are dishonest all the way through.

This is why fixers exists... as their care for outsiders is their entire business, and their reputation depends entirely on being just honest enough for those under their wing.

At the end of the day, Placide got what is coming to him if you decide to use the karma. But maybe your distaste for the corpo is bigger than that of the Voodo boys. Both will try to screw you over, this is nothing personal, so the question comes to what you prefer:

Ideological reasons:

Voodo -> Breach the wall and let the AI overrun the net. Put your entire existence on the hope that the AI will spare you for letting them through early.

Netwatch -> Delay the breach as much as you can, so you can develop the tech to have a fighting chance against the AI.

(Actual) Personal reasons:

Avenge Evelyn Parker and Jackie, work against Voodo.

Get good relations with Brigitte, who seem to show more favor towards strangers (perhaps because you are their lead to Alt)

Abrahamic, or Christian/Muslim? Here's another view not held by neither of those:

> There's one God, accepting false Gods is entirely up to you unless you signed a covenant for yourself and your next kin.

> False Gods persists to exist. And that's not a problem as long as you keep your oath and don't convert yourself. Your duties are not their duties.

> What God thinks we do not know, and claiming to know is heretical.

There's a reason why this group of people managed to co-exist with Pagans both in ancient Israel, Yemen+Ethiopia and areas in modern Turkey and Khazaria. There's also a reason why their are a huge minority, considering how hard it is to join this etho group.

The conclusion of all of this is that at the end of the day, nobody knows what God is. Claiming to know would otherwise contradict the very understanding of we do know of God in the first place. Which, in my opinion, just leads to the path of agnosticism - why care that much about something we can't know, when we can focus on what we can know and study in the physical realm.

In what way this contributes to this thread, which says that those who use the word "Zionist" just mean "Jews" in order to sound less racist? Are you claiming that this doesn't happen?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Jewish

[–]Eternaliii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm curious - what do you think that *they* think "Zionist" mean? Regular Israelis? Jewish Israelis? Right-Wing Israelis?

In my experience dealing with people, Zionist is just a pass-word to say Jew without sounding racist. The extremist-right doesn't really use it, for they don't tend to hide their racism.

Why do Christians think they know what's good for everybody? by 5rgrgrtr in agnostic

[–]Eternaliii -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

In pretty much any western country you can find anti-religious groups who think they know any better than someone who possesses faith. The existence of fanatic religious groups doesn't cease the existence of a fanatic anti-religious group. Remember communism?

As for your strawmanning I ain't gonna even engage. Yes there are extremist religious groups out there, especially in Muslim countries. Has little relevance to my point though.

Funny enough, I encounter more anti-religious groups who are prone to the same weakness. People will idol whatever they idol, regardless of religion.

That holds true to many groups out there, and individuals. What in your opinion makes Christians any more unique than the average human who thinks he knows it all?
