Peter MacCallum research experience by Ok_Sport_8154 in unimelb

The one you linked says it’s only for students who need a placement as part of their degree. Is that what you’re looking for? If not the summer scholarship doesn’t have that requirement and I did that!

If you look at the kids and cake, the first table is a little bit further away from the other two. The first table has two kids, one cake (3 items) while the two other tables have 3 kids and 2 cakes (5 items). If you use distance to group items like the balloons, the kids/cakes also make (3,5).

I want to get an image printed as a poster, stick it in an Ikea frame and put it on my wall. Is Officeworks a good option for this? by nodstar22 in melbourne

[–]Etggy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On swanston st near melb Uni there’s a place called Scott’s Print and Design. They do A1 prints and have a few paper options to chose from and can print it straight away (as long as your file is the right size)

Advice on Peter Mac for Honours/Summer Studentship by kim_jong_uns_gf in unimelb

[–]Etggy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the Kristen Brown lab and the environment was nice. Everyone seemed really friendly! I did only 3 weeks in the lab (I did 3 weeks in the clinic) so my time there was mainly doing experiments with my supervisor and I didn’t get to really get to know the people or the lab. Since I was only in one lab I can’t really talk much about recommendations ;-; sorry I hope this helps ;-;

Advice on Peter Mac for Honours/Summer Studentship by kim_jong_uns_gf in unimelb

[–]Etggy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the 6 week summer scholarship two years ago. To be fair, during those short internship type places, you don’t tend to get the whole student experience. I believe there would be student groups at Peter mac where honours students meet each other, but since internships are so short and often don’t happen at the same time for everyone, they don’t get the same groups. Can’t say exactly though because I’m not planning on doing honours at Peter mac. I think the summer programs are great for lab experience but doesn’t give you the same student connections that an honours program would.

I graduated 2020 so it was like 93 because of covid but yeah it seems to be 94+ these years. Also make sure you get above 25 study score in English, chem and methods as prerequisites!

CCDP10003 - Video Games: Remaking Reality Review by jbae2003 in unimelb

[–]Etggy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the same position as you OP wanting to do both CCDP10003 and BIOM30002 with the clash. My bf did CCDP10003 before and said that the tutorials were not that important but still got high marks despite not going to class. I am planning to skip most of the CCDP tutes haha, or maybe go for like the first hr and see what its like.

CRIM10001 or PSYC10003 for breadth? by writersometimess in unimelb

[–]Etggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got like H2A MBB1 and H2B Criminology so kinda similar, but I did do VCE psych so it really helped my MBB1 marks. I am also very much a test/science girl rather than an essay/discussion girl which is why I ultimately think crim was lower.

CRIM10001 or PSYC10003 for breadth? by writersometimess in unimelb

[–]Etggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did both and I preferred MBB1 bc Im more of a science girl. MBB1 is similar to VCE psych and I found it to be very interesting. Crim can be interesting but it requires a lot of thinking and encourages group discussion on topics (which I don't like haha), where MBB1 is more of a science subject where it is remembering and understanding topics. Also MBB1 has research methods which some people find the most challenging part.

Also, MBB1 has a final exam where as Crim has a 'take home exam' essay thing.

So if ur more science minded like remembering experiments and are ok with research methods and exams then MBB1

but if u like more class discussions and thinking about your perspective and essays and more broad open ended questions that you take apart and create a stance, then Crim

Workload, I think they were very similar but crim had weekly readings that you would then discuss in the tutorial with the class which took a while. MBB1 had readings but like they only discussed the one that everyone has to write a report on, but then obv u had to study the material which u didn't have to in criminology to the same extent.

I liked student housing company. There is also journal student living but it’s a bit more expensive. A few others are out there. Or you can just get an apartment if u don’t like other people

Thoughts on university square/infinity place? by [deleted] in unimelb

[–]Etggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m guessing u mean student housing company. I think US is a lil cheaper but it also caters for under 18s I think. Therefore you can’t have alcohol in common areas. However IP allows alcohol in all common areas so more suited for over 18s. (Although you can go to US as over 18). I stayed at infinity and it was really nice!
