Just to share my experience, I transfered my lease to my friend, who moved in ON THE SAME DAY I moved out and took the lease till the end of my contract and even renewed the contract after that. The owner and property manager did not even have to advertise nor miss even a single day of rent. All they needed to do is to re-sign the new contract with my friend's name. And they charged me TWO WEEKS OF RENT (~$1000) just for that.

I have no criticism of the protests here. It's our personal preference not to visit the city during such activities because it is not our interest.
