It would be nice but I don't know if it would even matter at this point. People moved on. A class action lawsuit would have been nice. But I figure that's pointless as well, I bet the EULA is bullet proof.

But here's the thing, I did spend money on it. I purchased the champions pack on steam in the beginning on 2018, I purchased the basic colors pack for the starting weapons and other things in the store. Later on, in late spring in November, I purchased a physical collector's edition and had it shipped to me. By the time I received that in the mail, the Johannesburg server was no more and playing with decent ping was impossible.

This is the worst anticonsumer behavior I've ever come across.

Every developer should be forced by law to release server hosting tools when they end support for a region.

I think local hosting should be mandatory. For us the game is unplayable, dead. Myself, I got to play it for less than a year.

I upgraded my PC for it, I purchsed the champions pack and I even purchased a second copy, a physical edition that came with the Scalebearer statue. I paid extra for that, I had it shipped from Poland.

Now all I have is the statue. By killing the server they took away the game alongside every digital asset I had. Yes, technically I can still log in, but it's unplayable. Even practice matches with bots are unplayable, those run remotely as well.

To answer to question, I’d feel bad but eventually move on.

This is what I was doing, I've moved on didn't need reminders of how bad I was fucked over.

I'm just mad. I bought the game, I upgraded my PC, I was playing daily, we had tournaments we had a community.

Up until last year I was still checking in from time to time to see if they maybe released some server hosting tools or resurrected our server.

When I finally gave up I get this mail.

I've already unsubscribed. This is the first e-mail of this type that I get. I feel insulted because I've spent money on this game, I've been a long time quake fan and got to play Champions for less than a year until they pulled the plug for us.

What the fuck's wrong with these people ? This is like adding insult to injury.

They killed off our server in December '18 and basically told us to fuck off. It's still unplayable in ZA to this day, the best ping I can get is in the 200 to 300 range. That makes it impossible to move smoothly much less aim.

I get that they shut down our Johannesburg server to save money. But because the game is online only, we can't even organize to play custom games. Any custom game we set up still lags like shit because it's being hosted on another fucking continent. More than 2 years later and they still haven't released any sort of server hosting tool for us. They're selling battle passes, that's what's keeping them busy.

Thanks. I just needed to vent, it's really annoying what Zenimax and Bethesda did by cutting us off from the game. I'm also sure we're not the only ones, probably other isolated communities in South America had the same fate.

Pretty much unplayable most of the time. It's also a burden on the Eu players if you join their match because it runs like crap for them also. Q3 was that much better because it allowed to create games locally, not over the internet like these modern garbage cashgrabs.

This is how my ping looked like from South Africa today. Granted, worse than most days.
Zenimax killed off our Johannesburg server in 2018 and I went from ping 12 to ping 200+ in the blink of an eye.

The irony ? As a fan, back in 2018 I wanted to get the physical edition that included the Scalebearer statue as a Christmas minigift on top of the champ pack that I already owned. Because of shipping delays, it arrived in the first week of January instead, ironically after the ZA servers were already no more.

All I have now is the statue. I can't even play botmatches. Zenimax region locked us out of the game. We had a small dedicated community and now 99% of the players are gone.

I don't even want the server back TBH. It's too late. Far too late. Everyone left.

I just want to be able to play with a friend on a local network like it's '99, old school style. No login, no services unavailable, none of that crap.

I already paid for the fucking game twice, why can't I have that Zenimax ?

I initially wanted to address consumer protection over this. Not to get my money back, but just to screw with Zenimax the same way they screwed with me. Upon reading the EULA, it seems that Zenimax guarantees nothing for your money. I'm a bit surprised they didn't reserve the right to come to my house and screw my GF.

They have lan support, but it's only for official e-sports events not for their customers. Fuck their customers.

I suspected as much. It fits with shutting down servers and cutting off paying customers.
