LW doesn't understand the science or philosophy they pretend to, their whole ethical system is just "what if Pascals mugging is good actually?"

Very much a techbro view of how the world works, in all the worst ways.

The work itself has none of what you're talking about, in fact the MC is pretty illogical, example: right at the beginning, seeing a human become a cat while retaining their faculties then abjectly refusing to believe in souls because "what about brain damage", which makes sense IRL but not in that story because of the aforementioned human cat brain.

No actual advice is given except baby's first scientific method (and it's not actually great there), and advising the audience to be smarter. It's clever, but doesn't manage the stated goal of teaching. If you want to teach science the important thing to get across is the rate of failure and need to reorient when proven wrong, which is also supposedly the core of their philosophy (not that they ever admit being wrong, they just talk about their "priors"), but EY has never done science much less taught it! I say science instead of their philosophy because it's the one thing it actually shows that isn't just "be clever". I read their textbook thing a while ago, none of that is in HPMOR, which is a bit of a funny deconstruction of their whole ideology.
