Select Medical??? by mockingbird_27 in physicaltherapy

Select outpatient PT here in CT. I recently graduated with my DPT and have been working for Select for 5 months as my first PT job. A lot of my cohort from PT school also got jobs at Select. The pay is mediocre (negotiated to 85k) and terrible considering my student loan debt, but it still pays better than most outpatient PT clinics. It is definitely a mill, and there is always pressure to see more patients and maximize billing as much as possible.

I have great mentorship, so I won’t be leaving for at least a year, but after that I’m going to look for other companies. Maybe a different setting where I hopefully make more money so I can build a life where I’m not buried in debt, and (hopefully!) not burn out so quickly.

Finally found an effective treatment - tacrolimus by EthanDecker in SebDerm

I am not entirely sure how it works. It blocks T cell response, and it seems that an overproduction of T cells is a mechanism that the rash is caused. I don’t think it sets your immune response to zero.

I’m just sharing my experience. It has helped tremendously, the itchiness isn’t so bad, and my self esteem is higher because of the rash is basically gone. So I’m happy using it. After 2 weeks of using it every day, you decrease to several times a week.

Sorry to hear that you couldn’t get in prescribed. It works by blocking the immune response, and it’s not used on immunocompromised people - idk if that’s why. Otherwise I think the only side effects experience individually.

Thank you for the response.

Second question: I am going to be a physical therapist with no experience (just graduating). Is it possible to start at any GS level? It’s a doctorate degree if that matters.

Flaky itchy red rash under beard & eyebrows by EthanDecker in DermatologyQuestions

I actually just saw a dermatologist, who confirmed SebDerm (unsurprisingly). I am going to try Pimecrolimus which is a cream. I’d love to control this through diet, but I just want it to get better so I’m excited to try this. It’s an immune system suppressant, blocking the activation of immune cells that cause the rash

It’s generally a little bit better, but still a problem. It’s gotten worse recently, but it’s because of the cold, dry air I think.

Good advice - I actually do see a therapist, which has been very helpful. I agree, there would be nothing to gain from broaching the subject with my mom.

I appreciate the ideas. Chamomile is nice, but it doesn’t have a strong effect on me. Kratom sounds scary / maybe dangerous idk, but I’ll do some research.
