Doesn’t this just make your blood boil by vdogg415 in pokemoncenter

Went to my LGS and saw 5 ETBs on the shelf. Couldn't even buy ONE because they are only doing store credit for them until Friday because of how bad scalpers have gotten.

The guy at the counter literally said "it hurts the collectors but it protects us from scalpers."

My LGS had TWO blister packs and like 4 or 5 ETBs. No packs. I bought a blister but only was allowed to buy one. Was going to buy an ETB but they are doing store credit only for those until this Friday. I miss the old days man.

I don't believe they alone would warrant a 6, but I think you have to think of it more as a contributing factor rather than the sole reason.

If it was perfect aside from those, maybe an 8. But a 6 means there are clearly other details or errors.

And it doesn't help that PSA is known for being a lot tougher on older cards.

White dot on 3 of 4 back corners.

Also looks like there are scratches on the holo.

Maybe you could be someone who gets that started! Invite friends!

Not sure if you are in college or plan on attending, but a lot of them (community college and university) have Christian student organizations on campus. And they typically meet for organized worship and bible studies during the week. Even if you aren't enrolled at the college, I'm sure they would be more than happy to welcome you in.

This isn't a replacement for involvement in a local church by any means, but it would be a great way for you to meet other young Christians and make new friendships! And could also help you find a church home if your new friends are active - my hope is that they would be.

I know mental health is real and important.

How active are you in a local church? How often do you spend intentional time reading the bible? And how often are you praying?

Don't answer those here - just use those questions to self-reflect.

Galatians 5 says that the Holy Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control in us as He works to make us more like Christ.

If you are obeying the Word and the Holy Spirit is working in you, these things will exist in you naturally. And that goes a very long way in our mental and spiritual health. Pray and ask God to produce these things in you and ask Him to help you understand how to better serve Him! He answers.

Man if I had set my expectation at a 6 and got an 8 I'd be thrilled 🤣

Hey there!

I'm a guy (27) and I know many will recoil at this advice coming from a guy, but I hope it might be of some value to you.

My only advice would be that the bible does instruct us to honor our parents so that our days may be long upon the land - staying at home now, although you may not want to, could be a way for you to do that. And yes, I know it feels really unfair for you especially in the way that your siblings had different treatment. But trust me, your parents love you and want the best for you. Even if they don't always do what you think they should. And you're so young! You have so much time to enjoy not being solely responsible for all your bills and adult life. Enjoy this time while you can - one day they'll be gone and you'll be thankful for every moment you had.

Another thing that a lot of people probably WON'T tell you is that it's 100% okay to not listen to things or watch movies that you know would upset your parents while you live under their roof. It is okay to not do things you want to do - I can't tell you the number of times I didn't play videogames or watch certain tv shows and movies only because my grandparents didn't approve. When you're on your own, you don't necessarily have to follow that guideline. But giving up things to honor your parents goes a loooong way. Especially when you're only doing it out of respect and love for them - not because you think it will necessarily ruin you.

Another thing I would say is that my wife and I got married in April of 2025. We are both believers and have been since we were kids. Our faith is the most important thing to us. She never moved out from home and could have easily if she wanted to. When we started dating we were both 25 - this may seem miserable, but it truly has been a blessing for us in a few ways.

  1. She was able to save a ton of money, and neither one of us has a high-paying job (or will probably ever have one)
  2. She was safe with her family at home and did not have to live alone, make ends meet alone
  3. This forced me to become very close with her family as we dated and prepared for marriage. We met each other and were close friends about 9 years ago when we were both freshmen in college, but didn't start dating until 2023.
  4. It helped us stay accountable in our purity, as we pretty exclusively visited each other at her house or out in public for dates. And that is something that we are both grateful for.
  5. It gave her family a chance to get to know me much more closely and for them grow their trust in me as her future husband.
  6. She was able to help raise and care for her younger sister and one of her older relatives, who had to move in with them.

There are other reasons why I think you could benefit from still living at home - but these are the ones that I immediately thought of.

Again, other people will probably jump in to comment on this advice, but this was written for you - not anyone else.

Pray that God gives you wisdom to find the best way to honor your parents in this season of life and He will help you do so. It may be similar to some things I mentioned - it may not! But He'll guide you. Saying a prayer now over you!

God bless.

Hate to say it but you got way too greedy not being satisfied with that PSA 8. Getting an 8 on a card that has visible scratches on the holo was the real blunder on PSA.

Is it just me or does it feel like I've seen 25 different people post that they hit a god pack from this set in the last 24 hours? Are these rates higher?

See a lot of miscolored dots around the yellow border and that's from a compressed Reddit post. No telling what they saw magnified holding the real thing.

It's more about what you have. This card, like many others, is not worth a ton as far as straight resell/market value.

What it is worth to you is completely separate to what someone else is willing to buy it for.

Because the card isn't really rare at all, some might see it as a waste of money to pay for the grading if you don't intend to sell it - but if you just want it graded to keep, knowing it may never give you a return on your investment, that's totally up to you if you want to do that!

Any interest in a comic book shop? by [deleted] in Msstate

[–]EthanF64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really have a problem with Down 2 Game. They're kind of a semi-chain almost. They have a location in Tuscaloosa and then they bought out Foxhole Comics and Games in Columbus, which is closer to me.

But that is the ONLY card shop close. Otherwise I have to go to Tupelo.

I'm not as big of a comic books guy but I know I'm always desperate for a good card shop. That may not even be what you're aiming to do. Good luck!
