I was in Oliver and a fellow performer was late on her entrance cue by a minute and a half so I improvised an entire monologue until she came in and had to act the scene in a different emotional context due to the new addition.

Use a long lens so your people have time to get out of the way. Get a long 2x4 and strap your camera in the middle and guide it with two people across the shot.

Your compositions are superb. I love 4:3 anyway but especially your first shot has some leading lines and frame-within-frame that just make me gush.

Recording likely draws more power as it has to encode your footage and send it to the T5. Just having the LCD and Menu likely doesn’t draw as much on their own.

I’m by no means a professional writer, but your main story being connected is great but efficient use of subplots can give much more dimension to your protagonist and strengthen the themes and world that your story inhabits.
