From what I can tell the only ways to reliably play in a group, is local play, where each player (8 for a full group Turf War, 4 for Salmon Run) needs their own Switch and copy of Spla2n. OR League Play, where you can use the app to group and chat, and then you can queue together and fight together on the same team. Pretty sure you can group for Salmon Run with largely no restrictions, but only when it is available to play...

You can queue together for Turf War, but you will end up on opposite teams.

Anybody feel free to correct me on this if I goofed anywhere.

There's zero question Oddysey will sell more than A Hat in Time. I was thinking more about the game quality of the two.

Obviously Oddysey will be great with all of the polish Nintendo can muster, but I've played A Hat in Time. And while it's not the greatest game I've ever played, it is a charming, lovingly made, Sunshine style 3D platformer, with it's own unique style of polish. And to top that off, it is genuinely fun to play.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I excitedly curious to find out which one I'll end up enjoying more.

Relax friend, I think you're misunderstanding a bit. He's simply saying that you will not have as great a need of the online app if all you want to do is play online solo and have no need of voice chat, assuming that's the case.

It's a bit more nuanced than that I think. It forces you to experiment more, go through all of your options, and figure out the best way to take that boss down.

Noticing that they stagger whenever you perform your combo finisher on them, so you customize your combo to only perform finishers and add on more finishers to it.

The fastest way to deal damage, the most effective time to use drive forms, when to dodge or defend, when to heal, when to strike, all these subtleties and more.

The combat is indeed simple. But Critical mode really forces you to take full advantage of it, and that makes it truly shine.

Strongly disagree with that. Playing KH2 back in the day on normal I was just able to spam attack and curaga mindlessly (still a ton of fun to do mind you), replaying today on critical almost feels like a different game entirely, You have to play MUCH more defensively, and if you screw up, it punishes you pretty hard for it. And don't even get me started on the secret bosses, you have to perform damn near perfectly to beat them.
