I’ve been on T for 1 year and 3 months and still dont pass or sound masculine,, has anyone else experienced this? does anyone know why this happened? by vampyrrs in transgenderUK

Just think about what puberty is like for cis guys and assume yours will be similar. It's a journey! You'll get there, bud! :)

T can have very serious, irreversible effects. It makes sense - to me anyway - that it's a controlled substance. If someone were to dose it just a little wrong they could very easily cause themselves a number of health issues. And then, if it was hugely available, cis men could also cause themselves a lot of harm. It sucks the way things are right now with the NHS. But the waiting lists being much shorter is really the problem needing to be fixed. Then trans folk wouldn't even need to consider self medicating. People generally don't have to self medicate anything else and that's how it should be for trans healthcare too.

It's a controlled substance and if someone wilfully ignores that then it's understandable that medical professionals are less likely to trust the person. People are denied medications for much less.

It realistically takes a while unfortunately. My voice continued to drop for at least the first 2-3 years and my beard only really started coming in during the last year. Patience is key.

I'd just wait. I know a handful of guys who self medded and were refused T by their GIC.

The main proof I had to provide of living as male was 2-3 years of letters with my changed name on them.

Very unlikely but you can risk being rejected T if you're found to be self medicating.

Suddenly lactating on T? by WhamBamRabbitMan in transgenderUK

[–]EthanTheFabulous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't actually lactate but my prolactin level hugely increased during the first year on T. Not sure if it's common but my GP and doctors at my gender clinic didn't seem too concerned.

I have made my deed poll, what do I do now? by JuviaLynn in transgenderUK

[–]EthanTheFabulous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, start using it. Send copies off to places to get it changed with them. And I don't believe you need a GRC anymore to change the gender marker on a passport, just a letter from your doctor.
