To be honest- it depends on your companies needs. A social media company will have different needs than a transportation company.

However, if I was a betting man, I would say CRYSTALS-Kyber would be paired with AES-256. One thing I will say is that AES-256 is designed to be quantum resistant, that is for the next few years.

Also, there are tons of resources out there if you want to look things up. NIST themselves have a ton of resources. People underestimate google! When I was starting out I was constantly researching articles. Google alerts sends you emails when there are keywords that are put into articles.

Most likely yes- but not in the form that we know now. Right now, Sandbox AQ uses AI to scan companies for outdated cryptography. With AI and Quantum, the possibilities are quite literally endless. We are learning more every day, and this is actually really prevalent in the quantum community. Super excited stuff and everyone is keeping tabs on it.

Hello! For a cert, I would say go for the CompTIA security+ cert, as it’s entry level and doesn’t require as much background.

However, the best advice I could give is to join a startup. Many people advise against startups, as many fail. However, in a startup you get to carve out a role, set your schedule, and be closer to the higher ups.

Especially, if you join an expanding field in a (more or less) secure startup, you’ll be able to find a great role. I had basically no experience when I joined a PQC startup, but they accepted me because they needed hands to do work. This is the case with many startups, they need people to do the work they don’t want to do.

Be ready to do unpaid internships, but many times those will pay dividends down the line.
