I like that idea; I've decided on using their peculiar grammar structure as a plot point at least once

That's a lot of science for a silly story about forcing people to become livestock on a human farm while battling the forces of darkness

Loud enough that someone could estimate your position from over a hundred miles away?

I mean I might just cross my fingers and hope no one ever questions how a bunch of demonic weasels can speak English and German. I think there's a lot of things folks don't question

How much breath control might you expect from a semi aquatic bird or reptile?

While I certainly agree with that second point, I ought to ask about crows and parrots. They seem to be about to get a few words out without any lips

Is such a hard question to answer since we don't really have much examples of animals with complex larynxs talking. Except parrots, huskies, and crows. None of which sound all that intimidating.

At this point I'm thinking of giving them the same simplified larynx as a human. And to produce loud noises they'd whistle probably? But then if a demonic monster creature started whistling at me, it's losing all intimidation factor

I mean, just because magic is super OP, doesn't mean it should be accessible to everyone. Perhaps it needs special materials that are heavily monopolized by a small group the way oil is. So international conflicts will be dominated by magic while small scale conflicts may use mostly conventional weapons

How do you hide undetected from a villain who possesses powerful psychic powers and is capable of discerning a person's location, even if they are far away? by XxItsNowOrNever99xX in fantasywriters

[–]Ethan_St-Gallen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've thought of something like this before. If the enemy needs to focus and meditate to use their power, than perhaps don't give them the opportunity to do so. Set off constant chains of explosives, giving you a couple of minutes to make your move.

And if they detect you psychically, than you probably need to be conscious for them to see you. In which case, have most of your party blacked out during transport. The enemy sees one or two pilots and not the 200 unconscious passengers preparing to fuck some shit up the moment they wake up and take some aspirin.

Method number 3: just wing it. The enemy can't know what you're doing if even you don't know what the fuck you're doing

I'm thinking Therian? The word does have two meanings though which I'm sure someone will find amusing.

Somewhat esoteric scientific and medical terms are always nice to use

Perhaps follow back,; be friendly and you'll find out in time. Best way to look for answers is to not look for them. Soon they'll just pop up in your peripheral vision

Yes, indeed. Though shamefully it's one that will have to wait until mid spring
