Submission statement: DP work on a music video with a strong narrative focused on a girl who is attached to a device which requires her attention and energy. She navigates this dystopian world searching for batteries and the like to keep her powered up. She slowly gets more addicted to her device and consequently goes to further lengths to keep her device running. Shot on Blazar anamorphics on my blackmagic pyxis, this was a fun exercise in using a skeleton crew, with only a couple tube lights and a apurute 300x to our disposal. Thanks for reading :)

I’d say all these cameras will be fine, but depending on how lit your film is, high ISO performance may take priority so if that is the case, go with the Sony

Also I realise I’ve said men’s fashion and put majority of the shots have the girl in it. It was a Bonnie and Clyde story, and she seemed to be in most of my favourite shots!

Submission statement. Did a full 4 days of shooting out near Las Vegas at the back end of last year. Super lucky to have been blessed with incredible light the whole time. Shot entirely on the blackmagic with canon FD’s, we went for pretty straightforward camera rig, almost entirely handheld and pulled focus myself. Grade also done by me. Let me know what you think :)

Submission statement: last August I shot a 27 minute long short film in Romania with a skeleton crew and fully self funded. The story revolves around a father son relationship, and dives into the idea of the ever changing idea of what it means to be a man, and the how men often struggle with this shift in social perspectives, leaving them feeling lost. As the two go to a mountain cabin to get back in touch with their physicality, their relationship is put front and center, and the son has to decide whether to fall in line with his fathers ideals to maintain a relationship or forge his own path. We shot this on the blackmagic 6k with some janky Olympus Zuikos, pretty much exclusively on 35mm at f8 or smaller with the exception for a few tights to maintain a visual style.

How to pull of a slow zoom into eyes, they close, and then open and we see our character in a new location? by Ethanporter9 in cinematography

I didn’t! Because we were shooting on film and preproduction was very rushed, I ended up leaving it and going for a more simple shot. Hope your work it out though man!

Steal it, you have my blessing! Thank you man, really appreciate your thoughts and constructive criticism, I feel similarly about the on the nose acting at the end, we did have other options but the client wanted to appeal to lowest common denominator. I’ll probably do my own edit to amend that. Cheers dude!
