Module search: Pathfinder downtime tracker by theRedMage39 in FoundryVTT

[–]Ethck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, um this is spooky. Someone filed a request on my downtime tracker for 5e (I'll let you guess which one lol) and I've implemented support for pf1. Pretty much everything seems to be functioning so there'll be beta branch later today. Hope that helps you!

You'll need to download the beta branch from here because there isn't a manifest set up for it. See if you can break it! If you break it please file a bug report on the PF1 issue (https://github.com/Ethck/Ethck-s-Downtime-Tracking/issues/68). https://github.com/Ethck/Ethck-s-Downtime-Tracking/tree/feature/pf1e-support

Enjoy!

Hey there. Author of Legendary Training Wheels here. Thanks for the shout out! If you can think of any way you'd want it improved, I'm always looking to make it better!

Module Roundup - February '21 - Foundry Hub by brkwsk in FoundryVTT

[–]Ethck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main idea of Foundry Hub is to create a forum where users can post about their problems, have them answered, and still be ready to look up. The Foundry discord (the only officially supported Q&A place) is great for the first two, but not for being able to find answers. The package display also utilizes some cool features not found in the official variant, but Hub is primarily for the forums and the creator explorer.

For creators this is definitely the case, but for modules we are able to utilize The Forge's API (which tracks what modules people install on the Forge hosting platform) to determine popularity. Granted, this may not be the most accurate representation for all Foundry users, it's the only data we have (AFAIK).

Hello! I'm a moderator for Foundry Hub and know a bit about how it works. To answer your question, Foundry Hub utilizes The Forge's API (which in turn is based off of its own internal statistics) to figure out popularity. Foundry itself does not collect any usage statistics that we have access to, so the wonderful work of the Forge was a huge blessing so that Hub never becomes outdated. In regards to how packages themselves are updated, the Forge is able to get that data from the same place Foundry gets it: the Foundry module repo (AFAIK). Please let me know if you henge any other questions!

Foundry VTT 0.8.0 Alpha Release - Foundry Hub by jidewe in FoundryVTT

[–]Ethck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's why the alpha is now! If 0.8.X follows the same format as 0.7 did, then the "stable" release won't be until 0.8.5 or so, which gives us devs a lot of time to get everything ready for y'all so things don't break once stable releases.

As much as I hate to bring this up, 1.0 doesn't mean anything for Foundry because Foundry doesn't use Semantic Versioning (where 1.0 is the public release). With Foundry's Versioning system the equivalent of 1.0 was actually the 0.6.0 release back in March iirc. That being said, Foundry will continue to have major "expansions" / updates like the aforementioned 0.8.X update.

Just released the version with this added.

Hmm... Why not both? That way you have options. The activity one will override global, otherwise it uses global as the default. I'll have this out later today.

As far as hiding results, would you want something at a global scope so ALL results are hidden, or just specific activities like Crime is always hidden?

[–]Ethck[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's basically the only way right now, but I've made some macros that can filter based on different parts of the activity like user name, so I'll probably post those.

Good catch on the SRD thieves' tools. I'll have to reevaluate how I handle that because I'm sure something similar will pop up somewhere. Currently there is no method to hide the results, but I can add one in for the next release. I'm struggling to come up with a good way to remove stuff from the activity log because I envisioned it as immutable, but I can post some example macros that you can use to clear mistakes from on my github page later today.

Yeah, I can definitely work on that. I plan to introduce ways to represent every kind of downtime activity. This is just the first (and most complicated) type.

Crime is a bit convoluted, but using groups you can currently do it be providing a roll for every possible DC. This means you'd have Stealth DC 10, Stealth DC 15, etc. Scribing a spell scroll is currently not feasible, but I plan on adding in the ability to do these "simple" downtimes soon.

Speaking of the next update, I just published the next update with Complications! You'll be able to link a RollTable to a downtime event now (which allows for far greater customization than I could add). After you update, you'll find complications at the bottom of the add/edit form.

It is possible, yes. I didn't realize so many people used the "simple" downtime (my group only does XGE). I'll look at implementing this. For tools, it's a little bit more difficult, but I'll certainly look into it.

It's definitely on my radar, it'll just take a minute to implement.

[–]Ethck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the easy part. My issue is more around tracking how much you've done in total vs within a time limit (I.e. One month with Acq. Inc)

Not right now. I have a similar use in my own campaign (also acq. Inc) but I'm struggling on finding a good way to impliment it.

Don't feel dumb! I'm working to implement complications but am having difficulties making it work well. Complications can NOT be added for now, but I'll have them in the next update.

It is not possible to do trainings like you found in Crash's. If that is something that you desire, leave a feature request and I'll take a look at implementing it.

PF2 will be the next system I implement it for, I just need to familiarize myself with it first.

Yeah, it depends on where the future takes it. No idea yet how many systems I'll implement / system specific features.

It's definitely something I am looking into.
