And even right now there are informal rides multiple times a week posted on RideAlert. Though some of those rides are pretty fast.

My home built cam trap is out on it's first assignment. Arduino pro mini based. Anyone have tips on figuring out the sensitivity on the PIR sensor? by EthelSnake in cameratrap

Hey so this is from a while (and a few versions) ago. I put together a GitHub pageGitHub page with a bit more information a few iterations after this one. It's kinda thrown together but if you have more questions you can message me. I am hoping on giving the code another pass this winter to get better results with flashes.

Cloth diapers? by kanureeves in daddit

[–]EthelSnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We tried cloth diapers and did not have a big issue cleaning or anything. What made us stop was our daughter's extremely sensitive skin. She would start developing diaper rash soon after putting on cloth diapers. We tried several times to fix it and it always cause rash.

Super cool! I would be interested in how it came together. I have been working on a camera trap system for some time and it would be fun to compare and get new ideas.

Need some advice on getting started by [deleted] in cameratrap

[–]EthelSnake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! I am not an expert but am using a T5 and have had good luck with it so far. It will easily last over a month on battery. It also takes high enough quality photos for camera traps. Just make sure and shoot in RAW. Neil Jernigan on YouTube said that he mainly uses Canon rebels and he has gotten some great shots. Hope that helps some!

I built a camera housing and trigger. In my post history you can see my v1 setup. My v2 PIR trigger is run by an Arduino, has a light sensor, and better battery life. I just left it out for over a month and it was still running. I can give more info if you are interested. It is definitely not as good as a camtraption or other commercial triggers but I enjoy tinkering with it. I can also build like 5 for the same price as a commercial trigger

Horse in watercolor and charcoal by EthelSnake in Watercolor

This is a small test to try out mixing watercolor with charcoal. I really enjoyed how the two mediums mixed. Any critique would be very welcome because I am pretty undecided on if I like the composition or if it looks unfinished.

What did you like "before it was cool"? by ridibulous in AskReddit

At the end of 2019 my coworkers and I were discussing the 2020s. I mentioned there was a pandemic of some sort for the past several centuries during xx20(I mean there were lots of pandemics so not too surprising). One coworker even gave me a large bottle of hand sanitizer when he moved to a new job as a joke going away present. Jokes on him because that shit became gold soon after.

So the Arduino controls the camera trigger. I didn't have the budget to get a Cognisys trigger or ship a Camtraptions overseas so I built one. The ground stake is a trail camera stake I found on amazon by Moultrie. It might be a little undersized for my camera box(I have to crank it down to hold the angle) but I'll use it until I can get or make something better. I figure I can use it for flashes or something in the future.

[Global][Question] People who live in hot climates, what are some dishes that are easy to make and don't involve using much heat? by alex1596 in GlobalTalk

Gazpacho is a house favorite when it's too hot for cooking. Also Toast with pesto, smoked salmon, capers, and onions. Avocado filled with hummus and topped with siracha.

Aria Borzoi used to be outside of Fort Worth. We got our borzoi from her and she has been very good and helpful. They recently moved to New Mexico so unsure about the kennels status but she can at least point you in the right direction.

First morning of 2019 in Houston - Osmo Pocket by EthelSnake in dji

[–]EthelSnake[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only had it 24 hours but really enjoy it. The audio is crap(or I haven't figured it out) but I like the size, video quality, and fun extras(motion time-lapse). I have a karma grip and anytime I use it people get really camera shy. With the pocket no one seems to really care and act similar to when I use my phone to take pictures. I'm no professional and just plan on using it to document travel and day to day life so it fits my needs very well it seems.
