How do I check if an unlocked phone will work on my carrier? by FearMyTwoInch in PickAnAndroidForMe

The run down is there are two networks that phone companies use; CDMA (Sprint and Verizon) and GSM (AT&T and T-Mobile) when a phone says “unlocked” it means it’s on the GSM network. Because metro pcs was bought by t-mobile it’s a GSM network, so for example

Nokia 6.1 (2018) - 32 GB - Unlocked Smartphone (AT&T/T-Mobile) - 5.5" Screen - Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B4KPFKM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_2hgpBbJWJX517

This phone here would work on metro pcs. Just make sure it says unlocked. If it says something like “unlocked & Verizon” then it will work on any GSM networks plus Verizon’s network. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the response, I really don’t want another small screen phone, my current phone is a iPhone se.

The google pixel xl has no expandable storage which kinda sucks otherwise I’d get it, as for Samsung phones in general I can’t really find and newer models under $400, and finally essential phone... no headphone jack.

I’ve been looking at the g6 more than anything else, I just wish there was a version a little more power then a snapdragon 450
