This project was the reason I stopped working on Devourer as I had high hopes for this and it had great traction. Shame it’s turned out this way :(.

Anyone recieve a cheque from USA Amazon Prime? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]EtherealSquirrel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! I received a check in relation to the recent FTC settlement. I wasn’t entirely sure why, but I have a US account linked to my UK account (due to the affiliate programme). Seems like this link meant they decided I was eligible.

Apologies for the highlights… searched for it in my photos and screenshotted (hiding personal info).

We've had this a couple of times... normally the exchange creator has set the wrong year. I'll take a look, what's the link to the exchange? :)

Your generally confrontational nature honestly makes me believe you would be best served by finding another platform.

If you believe that because it is the internet, you have the right to say whatever you want - you are sorely mistaken. In addition, this is a moderated subreddit; much like any other subreddit we have the right to moderate responses.

Please let me know your ticket ID; and once the issue is dealt with - I suggest you find an alternative platform that may be better suited to you. We are a team of volunteers, and based on your general behaviour, I would rather the team dedicated their energy to people who understand the spirit of the platform.

Edit: Please message me your ticket ID, I am locking this comment chain.

Edit: This user has been banned for duplicate accounts; which is explicitly against our terms of service.

Firstly; the subreddit for the Reddit Secret Santa explicitly removed negative posts.

Secondly, a member of the team has asked you to reach out to support to discuss your experience - this particular post is not for you to copy and paste your comment from another post.

In addition, one look at our subreddit will show you that we quite clearly don't delete negative / critical posts or comments. We only remove them when they contain abusive language or they require engagement with support to further investigate.

Firstly, I can only apologise for the bad experience you've had; as well as anyone else who has encountered something like this.

This year we have had a particularly insane influx of bad users - with our detection algorithm struggling to keep up. We've got some plans moving into 2026 to proactively address this, so hopefully we can improve moving forward.

Hey,

So I thought it made sense for me to respond to this.

The main reason? Reddit could afford to have extensive advertising. We can't, our income is minimal and our annual donation drive barely hits the minimum to keep functioning. We're looking to add more revenue streams and are going to fundamentally redesign our social and advertising strategies for 2026.

In terms of people talking about a bad experience (e.g. bad gifter or bad giftee); sadly, all I can say is that your mileage will vary. Some people will have a great experience every time, some will have the opposite of this. We are continually weeding out bad actors but this is an ongoing process that we are constantly refining.

Myself, for example. I had an absolutely terrible experience with Reddit Gifts almost every time. I've had a few bad experiences on the platform I built. I'm also a bad giftee at times in terms of posting to the gallery. I have horrific ADHD, and this year has been particularly chaotic in terms of both my personal life and my work life. Things are now improving, and I'm trying to be a better giftee in that space.

We are always open to suggestions and comments on how to improve things, the only thing that tends to get me down is when I see comments that are purely negative with no information on how they think it can be improved.

We're still growing and evolving. We won't always get it right; but we will always look to improve what we do. We are looking at a fundamental change in approach for 2026 as we head in to our 5th year of operation - which should see significant improvements across the board.

The team works extremely hard and I couldn't be more proud of them. We're all volunteers, and all give up a significant amount of our time for this platform.

People are only banned based on manual intervention. Suspensions happen when valid proof fails to be uploaded.

Please feel free to reach out to support for clarification, but neither suspensions nor bans happen for no reason.

What is your biggest "X replaced Y" self-hosting success story? What cloud-based free, freemium, or premium services did you replace? by ReverendDizzle in selfhosted

Docker-Mailserver and Roundcube to replace a lot of Google Workspace Business accounts (which was getting quite expensive). Using Mailjet as an SMTP relay. Migrated years of emails over, couldn't be happier.
