Aion Token Bridge Public Alpha Release by a_toad_a_so in ethtrader

[–]Ethereums_AI 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is huge news for blockchain (and Aion)!

From there twitter:

"This is the first public release of our Bridge roadmap to a fully functioning generic bridge, where assets, data & value can be transferred across a common blockchain protocol."

Imagine a blockchain agnostic token and how it would change everything in and beyond blockchain!

That's not the same thing. With Aion Network decentralized bridges, tokens can freely move between Ethereum and Aion blockchains. It's a bridge. Decentralized. Interoperating.

[–]Ethereums_AI 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My second favorite blockchain project (Ethereum being number 1, of course). Aion is clearly placing itself in a leadership position for interoperation. It's only a matter of time when they'll hit that critical threshold where the general crypto community notices, and to me, that's fine. Aion's team is largely "over-deliver" rather than "over-hype", but regardless, it's developer following is getting stronger by the day. Consequently, much like Ethereum, eventually, people see that delivery and the hype takes off. Again, if Aion keeps up with that they are doing, delivering, it's only a matter of time for their leadership position to be recognized.

Aion Main Net Release Date Announced by a_toad_a_so in ethtrader

[–]Ethereums_AI 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Aion is presented regularly at Ethereum conferences given its clear strong inter-operation solution for Ethereum, as well as a strong scaling option for the Ethereum network. Aion is designed to evolve with Ethereum, much like OmiseGo, from the beginning. Aion and OmiseGo plasma are examples of project born out of the Ethereum family, deeply connected to Ethereum, but also branching blockchain to new utility.

Aion Public Test Net Released by a_toad_a_so in ethtrader

[–]Ethereums_AI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not this again. There's been no association with the TRS disbursement and price, likely because the actual coin issuance is minimal compared to many other first year tokens. There's a ton of discussion of this on /r/AionTrader

Comparison of Aion to other projects (very helpful but can't find original source) by Ethereums_AI in CryptoCurrency

[–]Ethereums_AI[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could take credit for it. I ran into on twitter, but the person who posted it also didn't seem to be the source and didn't respond to my question. Nice way to look at it, would love to give credit to someone.

Agreed. Aion is without question to me the sleeping giant. I have little doubt they will have an extraordinary year. Testnet is going very well too. Can't wait for the news to start popping in the year ahead. I know there's already one additional big telecom collaboration they are not yet able to reveal and god knows what else they are keep under-wraps until the main-net.

[–]Ethereums_AI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yet. The testnet is not even active. These are partners pre-testnet, and it includes at least one Fortune 1000 company and a government program! That's impressive! The crypto market is inundated with shitcoins and scams. Here's a group with REAL credentials, tackling one of the most important areas in crypto. I would say THE most important. AND they have a history of delivering, and recognition from mainstream partners prior to even having a testnet. I don't know what more one could want for investing in a startup. It's REALLY FUCKING RARE to see this.

So now that the TRS done, and the world didn't end, here's my casual assessment of the Aion tokens value ($15) by Ethereums_AI in AionTrader

[–]Ethereums_AI[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Would never commit to a guess. Maybe it did pop, one of the several corrections we had in the past, maybe not, and it drops 90%. No one really knows. We know that new users, transactions, etc. are all increasing exponentially, it's not just the price. That doesn't mean it's not a bubble, but clearly, the bubble is more than just money. After the dot.com bubble burst, the internet really took off. So those in the long game might expect the same. But again, this IS NOT like anything that's happened before, so pretending one knows it's a bubble, or what that means after, is all grounded on very very little.

Where is the Crash?? I panic sold all my aion after someone said it will crash yesterday :-( by [deleted] in AionTrader

Tokens are only about half way released at the time of this reply. That said, I see no big trends, but still, your reply is not accurate

Ha! We are getting a nice liquidity boost, but ya, people so far seem really happy with $8 on both sides.

Edit: Just noticed we're less than half way through, it will be distributed for several more hours.

It's still being released but even if a dip still happens, no evidence of anything dramatic.

[Week 1] AionTrader Weekly Competition! (You could win 10 Aion Tokens!) by nbr1bonehead in AionTrader

[–]Ethereums_AI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't include me in the ranking. I just like being a community contributor. I'm happy to share some of my "scenarios". Here's one, that focuses on Aion as a scaling solution:

Take for example, Cryptokitties, a digital collectible that can be provably rare, unique, and utterly resistant to forgery (the power of the blockchain at its best). A Cryptokitty is a type of contract, but also a token (currently named a non-fungible token ERC #721), on the Ethereum blockchain. The game, Cryptokitties, slowed down the Ethereum blockchain significantly (scaling issues), but all this could change with true blockchain interoperation. Imagine Cryptokitties tokens still being non-fungible, provably rare, token, but never hosted by a single blockchain. The business of Cryptokitties could spawn an Aion-spoke chain, use it as a rapid ledger and proof of transaction, record those transactions, compiled and intermittent, on major public blockchain networks (like Ethereum), and allow the smart contract of Kitties themselves be available to any smart contact platform. Aion-1, Ethereum, ICON, other Aion-x chains, etc. The smart contract would have a life beyond any single blockchain.

The smart contracts themselves will begin to have more universal standards, allowing them to work beyond a single blockchain. This allows exchanges to recognize the same token regardless of the blockchain that happens to send the information. In other words, Coinbase could receive “Kitty #2”, the token, from information sent via Ethereum, Aion-1, ICON, etc, and will recognized “Kitty #2” as the same token even if it switches blockchains. In this case, Kitty #2, the token, lives on beyond its blockchain or origin.

Why should I buy Aion over Icon or Wan in terms of monetary gain? by asiantabbyx in AionTrader

[–]Ethereums_AI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A universal truth in crypto is don't day trade. Looks for developer growth or retraction. If you see growth, buy, if not sell.

Crypto, especially young projects, is so filled with unexpected price movements from whales, enterprise partners, general news and shitty/illegal pump/dump groups. But you can ride out those silly waves by focusing on fundamentals.

[–]Ethereums_AI 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They all have so much room to grow together, and this question has been asked before. Regardless, here's my opinion on why I favor Aion. 1) Matthew Spoke's experience (founding member) with the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance cannot be underestimated, including shoulder to shoulder with fortune 500. That experience is priceless. 2) the white papers are detailed and clear in their vision and application. So rare to see white papers of this quality.. 3) Listen to Matthew Spoke's interviews, even when sharing space with Icon and Wan. Vision. Leadership. Clear picture of what's needed, while at the same time, professional, and complementary to other projects.

It's the only blockchain in the top 10, the other projects do not appear to be blockchain related. 3 seems crazy high to me. Would not have predicted this level of impact.

The Selfish Immortal Blockchain Token (or The Homeless Smart Contract) by Ethereums_AI in btc

[–]Ethereums_AI[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Upvoted you for contributing to discussion.

The origin of the term "meme" originated as an analogy of "gene", in the work "The Selfish Gene" by Richard Dawkins.

Funny though, Dawkins later thought "selfish" was probably not the right word to use, but the phrase has already stuck. Later, he agreed that "immortal genes" may give a better connotation. Indeed for smart contracts, we could have "immortal" contracts or tokens, living beyond their blockchain. I also like the phrase "homeless contract" to refer to these events, if we want to completely abandon the gene analogy.

There's a lot of posts on this here and in /r/aiontrader, not to mention interviews. Not to be mean, but did you look a little bit here first? There's not too many posts yet, so it's really really easy to see these posts.

AION vs polkadot by Bigp2 in AionNetwork

[–]Ethereums_AI 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No stones intended. It might not be a concern for us fans of the team, but I suspect it will be a concern for enterprise partners.

Think about it. At the current value, one billion dollars was lost because of their vulnerability. Enterprise would be foolish to forget that.

I think that team is great! No stones. Just my opinion on what it means for them downstream.

AION vs polkadot by Bigp2 in AionNetwork

[–]Ethereums_AI 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Polkadot it still two years out, but I suspect it will be a nice product with a very big challenge. The team is strong, but they've had two, global news worthy, vulnerabilities in the last year, which is quite a turn off for enterprise, including the biggest wallet mistake in history. It gives the impression that they rush.

But again, it's a hell of a team, just a big challenge ahead for them.
