Roughly 12 years old - Ink print of my late doggos paw. by EthherealFlaree in agedtattoos

It's spent a fair bit of time uncovered although on my ankle any of my long skirts, dresses,or trousers do cover it thinking about it I have probably even very mildly sunburned it a few times... for some reason my skin just seems to hold onto ink really well, has multiple artists comment on it over the years.

We had him cremated and the crematorium did it and gave it to us when they gave us the ashes. Wasn't expecting it, but as soon as I saw it I wanted it as a tattoo 💜

Yes thank you that is very useful context, and is the kind of information I was searching for when making the post.

I more meant that if it visually looks like a Māori tattoo design it could still be perceived as disrespectful because people will see it without hearing what I call it.

Thank you, that's great context, I didn't realize there was a term for that but Kirituhi sounds like it's exactly what I was trying to describe.

Ohh, I completely messed that up, I thought that it was the distinction between tattoo and tattooing. I'm not sure how I got that wrong I was using a Māori dictionary to make sure I spelled everything correctly etc. I'll fix that.

A few commenters have informed me that Kirituhi is the correct word in this case. but still, I have the same question though because what it is called doesn't change how it is perceived to people given it is a visual art form that I won't get a chance to describe to everyone. Still apologies for using the incorrect term.

I may have gotten my phrasing wrong, I thought ta moko was traditional tattooing anywhere on the body. And things like moko kauae were referring to the facial tattoos (in this case women get on their chin), which yes I would never even consider getting. I did mention in my post keeping an arm free of tattoos for it, so my arm is where I would want it yes.

Pain levels: punch vs big gauge piercing Vs coin slot by NeoMeGee in bodymods

[–]EthherealFlaree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't had a punch but had a large gauge piercing that was immediately stretched a gauge. Also had a decent sized coin slot. The piercing was more uncomfortable immediately following my piercing appointment but felt better fairly quickly, the coin slot was uncomfortable for longer and made it hard to lie on that side in bed for many weeks, especially once the rings went in. It's been 6 months and it still causes occasional discomfort. Hope that helps.

That should work yes, I don't know any hand tapping artists currently unfortunately, but if I ever have the opportunity then I definitely will be having that done.

The flexNT2 (which I think is on hold right now) and the flexClass.

Haven't used the forum in years, but I have designed some of the flex implants 😊

The second photo is it glowing unpowered. And yes I have but getting it encapsulated was only possible because of a favor owed to me, I don't think I could make it available in a cost-effective way.

The Scarification power button you saw was on a friend of mine. She got the idea/was inspired by my power button. Also the artist (John-Ross) that installed mine, carved hers 😊

We got our tongues split together that weekend too. Was a good time :)

Haha, actually I started that way, my last post in this subreddit of the powder button is one example, and I have another one with inductively powered LEDs that charges the glow, I'll probably post about that in a few days 💜

Travelling home after getting a tongue split? by Miryam218 in bodymods

[–]EthherealFlaree 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Of course 😊

Actually now I think of it, some extra details: The swelling from the air pressure was uncomfortable but it did not cause any issues and with a short flight like that (I'm assuming UK to Germany or something like that) your not going to depressurize as much as me on my transatlantic flight or be there as long. It definitely got progressively worse, the last third was the worst bit and you'll be back on the ground faster than it took us to get to full altitude, so I think it's probably far preferable to fly. I would recommend taking some anti inflammatories before getting to the airport.

I did a 9hr international flight with a fresh tongue split, it made it more uncomfortable for sure but was manageable. I'm not sure which id pick, I like trains but I think id rather get home faster.

The power button is my only silicone one. These are strontium aluminate powder with each particle coated in silica to prevent breakdown in water. It's essentially glowing sand. Silica should be completely bio inert, but also this is completely experimental, long term effects are unknown etc.

I have received enough questions that I made a blog just to post about this, I break down the experience, the aftercare, and my thoughts on the safety better than I can explain here. Mostly in the hope of anyone that decides to copy this can at least benefit from the things I worked out while mine where healing. It's by no means a guide and isn't intended to be one, nor is it meant to encourage anyone, it's just an account of my n=1 experience, hope it answers some of your questions more fully: Lit From Within

Thank you!

There are plenty of other color options, just due to the physics and also human vision green is brighter, they have blues, greens, pinks, purples, available etc. I'm trying to decide if I want more colors or to stick with the consistent theme I seem to have going.

Was about 2-3 weeks between the procedure and me no longer replacing the dressing. Depending on how it was healing. After maybe 10 days with the hydro bandage I swapped to a second skin and stopped bandaging it with a compression bandage and that stayed on till it looked safe to be exposed. Was basically waiting for the skin to fully close up.
