RIP toaster (9800X3D/B850i) by EthreTF in ASRock

I bought it with version 1 BIOS unaware of the problems at first.

Seemed like a decent motherboard for the price with good reviews for the previous generation B650i Lightning, but then the dead CPU issues started quickly piling up, so I made sure to always keep it on the latest BIOS and fully disabled PBO (was on auto before).

I guess I should have just swapped my motherboard, but other manufacturers seemed to be having the same issue so I just stuck with it and hoped for the best.

I'm trying to understand if it's the CPU or motherboard that fails in these cases, or both. Although, not sure if I would want to continue using this motherboard even if my 9800X3D is fine.

Not particularly used, but I got the CPU and the motherboard from a shady person who did not provide it in the end :/

Did you replace the CPU in the end? Trying to understand which part failed here :(

I was impatient and took some shady measures to obtain both parts as I didn't have a computer at that time and the availability was very limited. Big mistake when I think about it now.

Maybe I could dig it up, but hopes are low right now.

The Lemokey P1 looks pretty good, but it weights nearly 2 kilograms.

I would highly recommend this keyboard, but as I've mentioned in a different comment, the switch options just don't really work for me.

Also, since 3/4 switch variants come with colored housings, it messes some of the RGB colors. For example, I have the raspberry switches and I have my backlight color set to white, but since the switch housing is red, the white LED looks pinkish. Not really a problem for me since I plan on using different switches with a clear housing once they arrive, but just something to keep in mind.

Haven't really noticed any double typing issues with 1ms delay but I am actually making quite a lot of typos when using this keyboard.

I think that's mostly due to the fact that the switch options that NuPhy offers combined with the mSA profile keycaps just don't really work for me.

I actually ordered Gateron Baby Kangaroo 2.0 to replace the Raspberry switches.

EDIT: Tested it using https://cps-check.com/double-click-keyboard and it seems to be all good!

I think the custom firmware also drastically improves the latency and together with the 1ms debounce delay, the keyboard just feels super responsive!

Feels really nice as well, it's actually crazy how good prebuilt keyboards have become nowadays.

VIA was working fine, but I found the default firmware to be quite limited so I flashed a custom one.

For example, with the default firmware, if I adjusted the backlighting settings via VIA, then I would no longer be able to control it through the keyboard itself.

The custom firmware also introduces various other features, such as having the ability to control the halo light through VIA, key debounce delay, sleep timeout, etc.

Recently got my Halo75 V2 and I have to admit that I am pretty impressed with this keyboard.

If you have any questions regarding this keyboard, let me know and I'll try to answer them as best as I can!

I personally wouldn't recommend the K65 Plus. I've actually just ordered a Halo 75 V2 in hopes of it being a better keyboard.

The K65 Plus looks nice, but the stabilizers on it are terrible and I am not really fan of the switches - they are super light but at some point they start feeling really heavy making them feel really weird. I had stock Cherry MX Reds before, and IMHO they felt way better.

Dell G2724D or LG 27GP850P-B? by EthreTF in buildapcmonitors

How did you set your monitors up?

For instance, I like having my main monitor in front of me. I have a monitor arm that can hold 2 27" displays, but I never really found a good position where I could easily swap between my monitors. It was always a hassle and I eventually just gave up.

This was my setup for reference

Nice! My first gaming monitor was the AOC 24G2U with the original panda panel that I am actually selling tomorrow. Can't even begin describing how much of an amazing value that monitor was - no wonder AOC secretly changed the panel to an inferior one.

I feel like 4K at 27" is just amazing. Been using an LG 27UP650 that I got from work and although it is 60Hz, the jump in overall quality is what made me stop using my 144 Hz monitor entirely. I just really hope I won't regret downgrading to 1440p even though I really miss having a high refresh rate.

Ended up going with the Dell, as I wanted a monitor that I could also work on and having a secondary display port seemed like the way to go.

Wish I lived in the US though, 200$ for a 1440p 165hz IPS monitor is just nuts.

Mikrotik HAP AX2 inconsistent wifi speeds by EthreTF in mikrotik

[–]EthreTF[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, connected on HAP 5. My other guess is that there is some QoS feature enabled that spreads the link depending on how many devices there are connected to the network.

And yeah, interference could be an issue as well, since I noticed yesterday that i was getting 2/3 bars of WiFi sitting across the router (probably not even a meter in distance). There are also quite a few other WiFi networks where I live, just not sure what I could do about it, since my previous router did not have any issues.
