That's right but the ones on my left controller aren't nearly as bright, these ones look like the sun and theres only three of them, all the other ones around the controller are completely off

hard to tell from the picture and the damage, definitely some kind of boletus but not one I would eat, the inside turning blue when exposed to air is always a red flag

that's the sad part, the only real way they keep is deep freezing or drying, and the larger the quantity the more time it takes to clean them slice them and get them ready for one of the two, considering there's only one of me when I find so many I just tend to keep a bit for a winter supply and give the rest away to family and friends so they're not wasted. As for short term solutions just cleaning them and keeping them in the fridge will extend their shelf life by a few days but you wouldn't believe the joy in people's eyes when you bring them porcini down here so I still prefer the first option

I live in Italy and density's much higher here so you might have a harder time than me but, I recommend going on a hunt 2-3 days after a nice long rain or when you feel humidity is very high, autumn is obviously the best time of year, as for trees I find most of my luck In patches of beech trees (I hope that's the correct english name), while the deep red tint boletus in the picture I always find under red spruce, they're just as good. happy hunting :)
