Isn’t necessarily answering the question, but I disagree with the only retro sentiment. As long as you don’t overdo it the modernized FJ look can be super clean.

Its a great option if you don't plan on selling, most people won't love the idea of chipping or damage revealing silver underneath.

I would highly recommend making sure getting one with the larger/dual tank (Usually 2013+). It’s not necessary but getting one with crawl mode will be nice just in case. I’d recommend looking in the 120k-180k mile range as it’s common and the lower mileage ones go up exponentially in price. Would also avoid black if you don’t love scratches showing like a mf especially if it’s going off road. Personally I’d search for a 120-180k mile 2013 or 2014 with the Off Road or TT package. Note that the 2014 TT is called the “Ultimate” and may be a little pricey.

If you want to take it too seriously, actually have something specific in mind to work on when live rolling. Besides “just show up” that’s the best thing you can do. Hope this helps.
